This was one of the most odd dining experiences I’ve ever had. They were excellent at certain elements of the dining experience but dreadful in other areas. Upon arrival we felt the ambience was atrocious, instead of a warm dining ambience it was incredibly loud (staff and patrons) and we were sat in an odd cubby-like nook on the 1st floor which had no privacy because there was another table shoved into this nook as well. The lights were so awkwardly bright that both us and the other guests dining next to us requested they be dimmed, which the restaurant did do. Overall the initial ambience had us thinking about leaving but decided to stick it out. Our cocktails were great, our server was wonderful, and our food was excellent so we are glad we did. At the end of dinner we were immensely satisfied with the food and our server, but the ambience leaves much to be desired both with the establishment itself and the control of the patrons and staff...the reason I say this is because they PROUDLY list themselves as “fine dining” but the environment was more sports-bar than “fine dining”. The kitchen is ready for that title...the floor is not.
I made a reservation the day before for a big birthday for my mom. I put in the notes that this was a birthday and if there was any small dessert that could be offered for it, I would like to. I arrived shortly before the rest of my party and was brought to a table in the back. The host then saw his notes it was a birthday and asked if I would like booth seating instead, to which I agreed. He told the waiter this as well. This waiter took drink orders once everyone arrived. It promised to be a nice dinner.
That was until the manager came over and told us the host should have never seated us there and it was needed for a large party. He asked if we would move to a table upfront, which was too small for our party but we agreed to just wanting to eat already. He then proceeded to insist my brother sit facing the window even though my mom wanted to; my mom took it was he wanted young people in the window and was offended. Then came our waiter - a new one to our dismay. He asked if we were ready to order and proceeded to take my mom's order... and then WALKED AWAY. The rest of us looked at each in other in shock. Did he think we were all sharing my mom's order? Once we had food, not once did he come over to check that everything came out ok. Fast forward to the end of our meal, when I was expecting the waiter to come out with a small dessert for my mom's birthday as is customary when someone says, "this is a birthday." Nope, the waiter came with the check instead and a few minutes later came back and asked if anyone wanted a complimentary bread pudding (no explanation of if this was for her birthday or just a thing they did).
From making us move tables and waiters (and not comping us in any way for the trouble), to offending my mom, to walking away while we were ordering, to completing dropping the ball on a birthday dessert, I wouldn't recommend this place at all. Oh, the food was mediocre too.
first time there and was impressed. The food was legit, Cajun inspired, the seating was prompt and the service was very good all during the height of a very busy Saturday night
The Warehouse has ambiance, great food and excellent service. I’ve gone with one person and with 6 people. Each time the customer service as well as the food was excellent! It’s pricey, but it NEVER disappoints!
One diner's meal was just OK; the other diner's meal was terrible. It was overcooked and had no flavor. The Warehouse was once our go-to place for eating. Seems they have let their standards slip.
My husband and I drive out about an hour and a half from home mainly for the oysters here, they are always delicious and the staff is always friendly. The crabcakes and gator bites were also amazing!!
Food was excellent, service was attentive, ambiance was great.
It was our anniversary and it felt like the perfect night for us both. It was quiet, the food was unbelievably perfect and the service was impeccable.
The service was amazing, our server was extremely knowledgeable as well as funny. Our reservations were right on time and the food we all had was great. We had everything from surf & turf to veal Oscar with no complaints at all. It's not the least expensive we have been to but fully worth it.
Our party of four gentlemen ate across King Street at Landini Brothers the night before and we had four outstanding dishes. Our dinner at the Warehouse was mediocre compared to the quality of food at Landini's. The best dish at the Warehouse was the crabcakes.
We recommend the alligator bites and the swordfish!
Took my mom here for a “thank you” dinner and my god we loved it. Ordered crab cakes and my mom had steak and they were both fantastic. I always order crab cakes when available at. Restaurant and these by far were the most authentic I’ve had. Straight crab meat and no “filler crap”. It was so fresh and filling. Service was fantastic and don’t get me started on the wine because I can go all night about that. It’s a tad bit pricey would maybe be my one complaint but it’s a good spot to take a date for a romantic spot out. Also parking garage is very close to resturaint $5. Great place to eat!!
I was in search of a nice place to celebrate a birthday. Nice aura and the hostess who sat us was GREAT. However I expected the food to be more than what it was. I was mortified after the bland cuisine even got us sick. Not a good way to end a birthday.
The restaurant has a nice ambience in downtown old Alexandria. Welcome and serving staff generally good, although serving wine across the front of a guest is not good. We all opted for the set menu. The mixed green salad was already dressed when it arrived at the table whereas it should have been in a side pot; and leaves had died a death earlier in the day. In short, the salad was not freshly prepared - even though the restaurant was barely busy on a Monday evening. Three of us followed with the steak, mash and vegetables. The whole plate had obviously been reheated in a microwave indicated by the very hot plate and overcooked food. I guess the high point was a nice bottle of overpriced Sangiovese.
But for the friends as company, the experience would have been disappointing. Rather pretentious with insufficient attention to delivering a quality meal.
We loved the food and the service was fantastic!
We had a party of seven last minute reservation obtained. The restaurant was quiet so we could have conversation hear each other and not raise our voices. The staff was helpful and attentive. The food was delicious! Fabulous find for out of town visitors!
The Warehouse is one of my family's favorites. We came for a birthday celebration during Sunday brunch. Collectively we had seafood omelette, lobster Cobb salad, she crab soup, seafood gumbo and the crab cakes. All of the dishes were hot and delicious. Our server was friendly and professional. Overall experience was great as usual.
It's my 2nd time there and the food did not disappoint. I will be going back again. My 95 year old aunt loved her food and she ate a pretty healthy portion of her meal. My cousin, whose birthday we were celebrated, was pleasantly surprised with the meal, the service and the ambiance.
We had a nice dinner at The Warehouse. My only complaint was that it was very noisy. We were seated close to another table of six and they were so loud that it was difficult to have a conversation at our table.
Great service, nice window seat onlooking the street on a lightly rains night. Just felt great. Waiter was really nice and patient. Artwork along the walls and to the upper level was very nice.
really overpriced relative to quality of food, price, and comfort ...... and i am a voracious guest at good restaurants.
Excellent food but service a bit slow to be fairly empty.
Outstanding food and service! I would highly recommend the Warehouse.
Wonderful food and the service is excellent.
Excellent fish dishes served with New Orlrans sauces
Food was great and very fulfilling. Already recommended the place to several friends. Will be coming back soon.
The lemon martini is to die for. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. Nice date venue; quaint. Not great for large groups.
New rare find... loved it! Will go again for sure.
Food was excellent but our waiter was kind of brusque!!
There are not many places with a cajun/southern style cooking that are reasonably priced or greasy so the Warehouse provides a nice change from the usual places in Old Town. We go for lunch. the main dishes include bread and a small simple salad. The smothered catfish is a favorite Nice sized piece of fried catfish covered in etouffe.
We went for seafood and crab was great. She crab soup was not as good as touted and a little cold. Good drinks and service.
The experience was average. The service was fine, but not great. The food was very - how to describe it - "meh." As a local, I continually find restaurants in Old Town to be pretty average, and terrible at keeping their listed wines stocked. This experience was in that vein. A very cute location, I just wish the experience has been better.
Phenomenal food. Calamari is outstanding, the sauce is spot on. Everyone in our group loved the crab cakes. I had the haddock special with a pecan preparation with a champagne sauce that was off the charts good. Fresh crab on top and the roasted potatoes were excellent!
Waiter pushed all the specials on us as soon as we sat down. The food was good, but not outstanding
Excellent service; good food. We tried the Warehouse for the first time on a Saturday night―it was packed. Fortunately, we had reservations. We were pleased with the excellent service, despite the number of customers. Mrs. had Trout Orleans which she said was very tasty. I had a New York Steak. The bordelaise sauce was excellent, but I was a little disappointed in the steak―not as flavorful as I had hoped. Mrs. had delicious fresh strawberries with Chantilly cream, while I had a slice of wonderful tasting Bourbon Pecan Pie. We will definitely return.
TIP: There are a few parking garages close by. Reservations recommended.
Celebrated a recent birthday at the Warehouse. Had great service and delicious food!
Overall a good night out! We enjoyed our meals and drinks! The decor is not what you would think for the name of the restaurant but it was comfortable and elegant at the same time. The service was good but not very warm and relatable.
We had a lovely experience until right after we paid our bill. We’d been seated at 6:39 for our reservation, ate a delicious meal, offered dessert (which we ordered), and then promptly given our check (without requesting it, but that’s fine). We then PAID, and at 8:34p, with wine still in glasses on the table, we were approached by the host who ASKED US TO LEAVE because they “had a big party.” He did not apologize, or ask with a conciliatory tone. He simp stated they needed the table. We were taken entirely off guard. We started to finish our wine, and a minute later another host said loudly immediately next to our table “has someone told them we need the table?” We left the wine and got our coats. I stopped to speak to the host on the way out to which he said “are you waiting for a table?” I explained I was at the table they just asked to leave and that while we had a nice meal, we wouldn’t be back. He did not apologize, and just said “ok.” None of us had ever been asked to leave a table, and after we’d paid nonetheless. Won’t be back.
Excellent in all respects. Suggest a larger vegetarian pasta menu.
Decent food. Service typical of a restaurant more concerned with turning tables than creating a real dining experience.
