The Wilmot at Primus Hotel - Sydney
We had a wonderful afternoon and High Tea at The Primus.
The two items I would point out:-
The savoury element focuses on seafood (oysters, gravalax), which I absolutely loved, but it may not be for everyone.
We had two children with us (10 and 5) and they were keen to try the high tea but it was hard to do so at full price. I know nobody wants the hotel flooded with kids but it might be a nice idea to put together a kids option like similar hotels do.
Service was fine, overall I'd recommend.
How the Wilmot has escaped the flood of foodies that make up Sydney is inexplicable. The menu is varied and inventive. The food is absolutely fantastic. The surroundings are classy-cool 1920's revivalist.
Go now before the secret gets out!
The food was excellent but while the floor staff were friendly and professional, they were still learning. There was only one vegetarian dish on the menu, which had chilli in it. The staff were reluctant to offer an alternative. Once my wife finally spoke to the kitchen staff, they were only too happy to knock up a vegetarian pasta dish, which was beautiful. At $50 for two courses of excellent food and a not so excellent glass of wine, it's great value. Highly recommended.
We thoroughly enjoyed the friendliness of the staff on duty the night we had our birthday dinner there, especially Manju who was very attentive. The dish I had was nice and spicy, the atmosphere entertaining and enjoyable. The lovely surprise was receiving a special birthday at the end, thank you so much. We are already planning our next visit there.
Hands down best customer service from a our waiter Bhim. Food was amazing. Awesome flavours. Would definitely come back.
Day out with the family in Sydney, great menu with something for everyone.
Good steak and craft beer. Not for special occasion but I will come back for casual dinner.
Great high tea. Food fabulous
Wonderful service in an interesting setting. Great to be able to talk with companions. Dinner deal excellent value, good choice and delicious.
We thoroughly enjoyed our High Tea experience. All the food served was excellent, the savouries (sea food)were exceptional. The wine and teas served also very enjoyable. We were very impressed with the excellent service
Went to the Wilmot with a group of friends for a catch-up.
Totally wowed by the food, wine and restaurant space. The bar and restaurant areas have a beautiful art deco feel, with a great atmosphere that facilitiated good conversation. Service was excellent, but not intrusive. Before we knew it, 10.00 had chimed, and time to return home to the comfort of our beds!!
Excellent food, excellent service
I’m not a local , but I am a regular.
Friendly staff but food was below par. Had wagyu for main, thought it was tough and no favour. Melted cheese with mango cubes around it and called it mango cheesecake. Surly can do better than that!
My friend and I had a very pleasant dining experience at Wilmot at Primus Hotel. We went there for lunch. We both had steak dishes which were delicious. The cuts of meat were of high quality and the steaks were perfectly cooked. Very pleasant service as well. Would recommend to others.
Impressive Art Deco space.
Sophisticated, Low noise level.
Good food and service. Would recommend and revisit
A lovely meal shared with my niece for her birthday. Food was tops, though I would have liked at least one other vegetarian dish to choose from. But what we had was delicious. Staff were helpful, but discrete. The Creme Brulee is to die for!
Please don't pour the tea for the customer - many people like to let it brew more, especially with only one teabag.
We had a great girls' catch up session over High Tea there. With multiple change requests, staff were very accommodating, good service too. A little disappointing with the finger sandwich choice was with pickled cucumber, but overall food choices were good, enjoyed the scone especially.
Couldn't have asked for a better restaurant to celebrate my birthday with family.
Didn’t want to go far so booked this restaurant near my accommodations. The quail looked nice but was rather a letdown as it was a bit overdone, the dried grapefruit was colourful but didn’t go well with the salad; the lamb shoulder was good - quite well marinated, succulent inside but crispy on the outside. It was a nice move to offer wine pairing with the menu, though there should always be a choice of just ordering food? The service was warm and genuine. All in all, a little bit disappointing at $55.38 ($62.38 with tips).
Excellent food, beautiful building setting in Artdeco style and wknderful attentative staff.
It’s a restaurant in a hotel that has that hotel feel. The staff are great. The food is good. Entree was not as great. Main was nice. The dessert was exceptional.
God food and superb service! We loved the Expresso Martini drama!
Fantastic food, a great vibe (despite it being a huge restaurant), very good value. Great table as well with lots of room.
Truely a hidden gem. Had no idea it was here, so close to work (World Sq). Nice place to go for a special occasion or an executive lunch.
Second time to have dinner with friends. This one was on a friday night. Only once the server missed a drink order, overall service was excellent and friendly.
The restaurant wasn’t full and would have appreciated not being seated in the middle of the foot traffic area. It would be a perfect 10 if we were asked if we wanted a quieter area, after all, catching up with friends is best if we can talk and have privacy and not in the middle of the action across the floor of the restaurant.
Food, service and price great from a nice hidden gem highly recommend.
How disappointing. We went for a birthday lunch and took advantage of the 2 courses for $50. I can only speak for my meal which was really disappointing. So the description stated "Steamed Murray Cod, Asparagus, Baby Carrots, Sugar Snaps" sounds good right? Well what came out was peelings of carrots (not baby carrots and not whole) one sliver of one asparagus and one (yes one) sugar snap pea! What the? Did they run out of food? Were they stocking up for Armageddon? The dessert was nice...
A great after work dinner spot for delicious food and great conversation.
A wonderful dining experience. The food was fantastic, the staff were so attentive, the wine was beautiful, an amazing setting and exceptional value for money for 3 courses. We will be returning.
Excellent high tea. The portion was perfect!
A lovely lunch place to take clients, great food and service, quiet for a chat and an impressive menu.
Thanks to the team for a lovely meal for our wedding anniversary!
Wonderful dinner, top to bottom. Came with 8 people and did the three course option, couldn't have asked for a nicer night. Place was busy but not packed, but felt spacious at the same time. Casually paced dinner, and the food was the highlight and star. Will be back again!
Slowly working through the menu. Ever meal so far has been excellent.
I am a Club Primus Member & can not recommend The Wilmot more highly. It's a great restaurant in a beautiful hotel. Staff are very attentive & food exceptional.
Had a late father's day lunch and it was great.
The new menu is terrific, the eggplant side dish was just amazing. Will be back very soon.
Good food and deal however service is super slow, took us an hour to get drinks and entrees served (twice in a row). Needs to be more attentive and faster with service.
My girlfriends and I celebrated two of our birthday's over a delicious 3 course dinner.
Great choices and value.
We could actually talk to each other quite easily, no yelling or repeated answers.
We all had a great time.
Good price, good quality of food
Please change the menu more frequently or offer more choices for regular customers.
