Excellent experience!! We love it!!
Quality food with great ambience.. ideal for a relaxed evening
Had to wait despite reservation. When seated, service took an inordinate about of time. Gave up on potentially seeing a movie after it took soooo long. Food good - not sure will re-visit anytime soon though.
The food was so salty and the chicken has no flavor.
Only good thing was naan.
My friend has just been ordered to become vegan, and the waiter was very helpful in helping her make safe selections. However a large group of 17 in the corner was so loud that they ruined the entire experience.
Food was rich and very flavorful. Portion sizes were about right, and wait staff was courteous. Would definitely eat here again.
If you are looking to experience the best Indian food in OC, look no further. The food here is authentic, it's delicious, and the menu is diverse enough from the standard Indian food menu in the US that you will always discover something new and exiting.
I have visited this place a handful of times and service has been impeccable every single time. The staff is friendly and kind and are eager to help.
The restaurant is beautiful on the inside with bright colors and bold lighting. It has an upscale vibe and is a great place for a fancy date night, hosting parties or for coming out for dinner on a relaxing weekday.
The best kept secret of this place however is their cocktails. They have delicious cocktails on the menu that you can request and if you want to take your taste buds on a memorable adventure, ask Viki, the bartender to surprise you. I might sound like I am exaggerating but he is probably the best mixologists in OC. I typically go out and try new bars/ restaurants about 2 to 3 times a week and he made me the best drinks I have ever had.
His drinks were refreshing, they smelled like rose and pineapple and all things that remind you of traveling the world. They were not too sweet but perfectly smooth and dangerously hid the hard flavors of alcohol. We cannot wait to go back and try more of everything!
Truly one of the very best Indian restaurants in Orange County. The food is really a step above any other place we've been.
We chose Yellow Chili for our daughter’s 21st birthday dinner. Sean was our server and he was the best! Very attentive, knew the menu items very well, was able to answer all our questions and gave us a heads up about a large party arriving, so we could order early. Food tasted great, ambience was perfect on a Saturday night. Overall we totally enjoyed our dining experience.
The food here is very good and everything tastes fresh. Our server, Sean C., was very attentive and accommodating with all of our requests. He really helped to make the dining experience pleasant. I would recommend this restaurant to others.
530pm Saturday reservation... Setting/decor and service were excellent.
Food slow to arrive and disappointing. Daal tasted like mediocre refried beans. Fried fish appetizer was excellent. Naan was thick and tasted old.. Cubed lamb dish was really over salted. Chicken biryani was mushy and not worth the wait. A lot of subpar food was left uneaten, destuned for the garbage. What a waste of ingredients.
Food arrived in 45 minutes, Food taste was horrible especially biryani was the worst. Would not come back here again. They are re-defining Indian food but in a bad way.
We wanted to stick to veg dishes.
Though the is not vast, the selections are very good.
The Veg Adraki, Veg Biryani were really good. Very flavorful, yet not too spicy. We had option to go spicier, but we preferred to go mild.
They generlaly have great starters too. The portion size on starters is BIG. However this time we decided to top it off with the deserts instead- Kesar Kulfi and Phirni. Both were not overpoweringly sweet so was very much enjoyable.
James waited the table for us. He was really helpful with the selection and helped us with appropriate portion sizes.
very good. everybody found something they could enjoy
Ranju and Michael are incredible! Loved our evening.
This was our first visit to The Yellow Chilli and it won’t be our last. We ate inside but they had a very nice patio for dining. They were short on staff, one server, I believe Shaun was his name, and the bartender. It was incredible how they bounced from table to table with an increase in the crowd by the minute. The food was wonderful, prices reasonable and service was outstanding.
The food quality was so bad. I felt so bad bringing my team with experience. But this time it wasn't good quality. Standards are gone down.
Not worth the money. Also, it is too expensive.
Quality of food is still great and this continues to be in my recommendation list to friends.
Delicious food, excellent service and a complimentary glass of bubbly to finish this amazing experience.
Some items are priced high . 20 bucks for two pieces of seabass appetizer seems high . But quality and overall pricing of other dishes was good
Service was horrible. We were seated for 1.5 hours before we got our main course without ordering any appetizers. Server was horrible. Lacks professionalism and customer service. Didn’t check on us as your supposed to at restaurants. Food was delicious but a little over priced! Manager also lacked customer service and wasn’t apologetic whatsoever. Will not be going back for dine in or ordering out.
The service was horrible it took us over an hour to get our food.
Food was ok, nothing special. Service was awfully slow. We were one of the first tables with 4 diners at 630p last Sat. Many tables that came after us got their dinners before we got our second appetizer, which did not arrive until dinner was served. Ironic that I said to our server when we ordered to not be like a typical Vietnamese restaurant and to bring our appetizers before entrees.
While it is understandable that restarting post COVID restrictions is a challenge for restaurants and workers may not have the experience of preCOVID employees. But in this case other tables who sat down way after us were served way before us.
I will give our server credit for making it up to us, but be prepared for a longer than normal time for a meal. Which is unfortunate for the restaurant with lower table turnover.
Excellent food and service. I go here often as it is very good
Great location, perfect patio dining.
The Yellow Chili offers a different dining experience than other Indian restaurants in Orange County. The food has a different flavor at the Yellow Chili. You either appreciate the different approach to flavoring or not. We prefer the flavorings used at other restaurants. Perhaps we have become too accustomed to Americanized Indian cuisine
Been to YC, tustin several times and prepandemic their quality was impeccable and hard to beat. The last few visits, the food fails to hit the mark. Takeouts miss sides and dine-in options are either limited or don't seem fresh.
The food was good. However, the coconut soup lacked any garnishing, wasn't that appealing when it came to the table and it felt as they tossed pieces of chicken into the bowl and poured the soup over it. Our other appertitzer, potato patties, came out with our entree. Was not happy. It took about 20 minutes or more for our entree to come out. The lamb shank was not as tender and did not fall off the bone, meat was tough, we did not eat much if it. Very disappointed and not worth the cost. The butter chicken was delicious and would order it again. I would skip the naan with onions and chilies, it was just okay. For the cost of the food we ordered, I was hoping for a little bit more from this place. Service was fine. We saw and heard a lot of training going on.
Service was a bit slow but the food was good.
Spent 3 hours at this place for Mother's day, mostly waiting for our food and drinks!! Our waiter, Sean, was the nicest and did the best he could but horrible management with how they handled the rush today! Just awful! The restaurant would do great if they could just fix that ASAP! We have been here 3 times now and service is usually slow but today just over the top crazy wait! Sean was nice to comp few things to make up but honestly that just spoilt the afternoon even though all 13 of us made the best of it!
Very slow service, food didn’t come out for a good hour after ordering. Restaurant was full but very understaffed.
Most authentic Indian restaurant in US. The best, with fantastic service!
This is a review for this past Saturday, 5/1/2021.
I've dined at this restaurant multiple times and absolutely loved it. Both my buddy and I are pretty serious foodies, so I hyped the restaurant up to him.
We made reservations on OpenTable for 5:30, but when we arrived, decided to sit at the bar. The bartender, Jake, was energetic, albeit quite young. Turned out, he had just turned 21 recently. (Was he bartending before his 21st birthday?)
We ordered the Murgh Angaar Bedgi as an appetizer, and it was wonderful.
This is where the good feedback ends.
The bartender was extremely talkative - beyond comfortably talkative. It was very difficult for my buddy and I to have a conversation, as the bartender would oftentimes try and jump into our conversation, or have a conversation with us himself.
We didn't come to the restaurant to talk with the bartender - we came for good food and to catch up with one another. This created some very awkward moments where we tried to politely beg off when he talked with us.
Second, for being as eager to talk with us as Jake was, my buddy had to ask multiple times for his water to be refilled. We were the only two at the bar.
Third, our food took FOREVER. Much longer than it should have for simple Chicken and Rice or Lamb and Rice. When our food DID arrive (30+ minutes later), it was very dry. We didn't say anything because we had been at the restaurant for quite awhile already, and just wanted to eat and leave.
Additionally, my buddy was not notified that the Murgh Noormahal Biryani chicken had bones in it, and took a big bite and ended up cutting himself in his mouth. When he mentioned this to the bartender, the bartender (Jake), replied, "Oh yeah, I probably should have told you that."
To his credit, Jake did rush two orders of Garlic Naan for us, and made a new alcoholic drink for me when I did not like the Scotch monkey drink.
Maybe this was just a one-off day, but future visits will be at a booth/table - and not at the bar.
The food was amazing however the service left much to be desired, everyone said they were new and didn't know anything about the food or menu. I would only go again for takeout as the food was delicious.
The service was subpar. Several servers, only two tables filled, and zero attention to the customers. Additionally, the silverware, glasses, and salt shakers were filthy. The trays the servers used to bring items to the tables were dirty. Nothing felt clean. I am Indian myself and took my Indian Mom there for an early Mother's day lunch. We both left very underwhelmed. Sad that the food is great, but the service and general condition of the place really dampened our experience.
From the amazing food to the outstanding service, this is one of the best restaurants in Orange County. I have eaten at Yellow Chilli many times and it is consistently excellent. The staff is delightful, enthusiastic and polished, and the food is exceptional. A hidden gem in a busy mall, I will go back again and again!
Drinks were too watered down, ordered lamb achari, got lamb kadahi which was nothing special and lacked fresh taste, sea bass tandoori fish lacked spices on the inside and was bland tasting, the serving slates had food falling onto the table and were not impressive nor presentable, floor had food fallen and didn't look clean.
Overall a very poor experience especially for the price.
Much hype and no cigar!!
I wouldn't recommend this place as there are many more Indian restaurants in Orange county that are cheaper and have much better flavors and taste fresher.
Great food, excellent service by Sean, Bala with an excellent owner Raj
Loved the spice and aromatic flavors at Yellow Chilli. I am a big fan of their rice dishes and cocktails. It's a great place to go if you are vegetarian or a meat eater.
