We believe the view needs to be as enticing as the food. And when you head to Timber & Torch, located at the base of the mountain, you’ll see what we mean. Timber & Torch is Steamboat’s version of dining al fresco when we roll up the doors and bring the outdoors inside. T&T is a bit dated and the music playing over the speakers was weird - and changed several times while we were there, both the style and the volume. Chairs are uncomfortable. The host was indifferent at best - no smile, no welcome. Food was mostly fine - nothing special but not bad. Chili was salty and the cornbread was dry. Wine pours are generous. The resort needs to upgrade this dining experience right at the base - at 7:00 it was almost empty but Truffle Pig was full all night.

Ian was one of the best waiters we’ve ever had. Not only was his service great, he entertained our kids with his magic tricks the entire dinner. He was reason enough to return. Give that man a gold badge.

Our server was wonderful and attentive. The food and drinks came quickly. The food is just okay but good enough. It was loud and there were lots of kids running around but that didn’t bother us as it is a family restaurant.

We were sat by a door which was freezing and told us we could not move because stables were reserved though we had a reservation as well. Food was poor, bread for sandwiches was stale.
