In one of James Street's laneways, Tinderbox Kitchen is PJ McMillan's unique and vibrant addition to eating out in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley.

We are inspired by the abundance of local growers, producers and artisans in our region. Our passion stems from working with quality ingredients to create honest 'real' food that courts your spirit and tastebuds.

Tinderbox Kitchen is about showcasing and enjoying local produce and products. Our Brisbane designed and built Beech wood fired oven has a significant role in our identity. This is evident in the woody smoky notes it lends to roasted local mushrooms, oven baked leeks and spice-rubbed lamb. Authentic pizza features frequently on our table. The handformed dough is made from an organic stone-milled flour to create a crisp light pizza base that is as delicious as the ingredients it supports.

Great food, Great service. Never had a bad experience at this great restaurant. Serving sizes could be a litter bigger for the price but the quality is there.

We had a fantastic evening. Gnocchi in pork ragu with green olives was probably the best gnocchi I've ever eaten. Excellent service as well.

Excellent restaurant. Low-key and relaxed, fabulous service, wonderful food, sensible wine list, and all packaged up in an affordable price. Love this place!
