Really excellent. Tooting market is full of atmosphere. We were greeted and made to feel very welcome. The food was stunning, authentic and interesting
Not a cheap eat but the food was amazing as were the drinks. Would definitely recommend.
We absolutely loved it here! The food was all delicious, we ordered one of almost everything on the menu and felt just nicely full at the end. The squid ink risotto was just incredible. The service, the wine, everything was just perfect. The market seems to have heaters now too, so even in December we weren’t cold. Highly recommended!
Delicious food at Tokova, which is tucked away in the markets so cosy and not cold as some other places can be. The owner, Cristina, is attentive (but not too much!) happy to offer advice on food selections and wine if required. Every plate we had was delicious - the squid ink rice, the cannelloni and the hake were particularly memorable.
We are thrilled you enjoyed your time with us. I hope to welcoming you very soon and I can keep advising you if you wish too. Cristina
Amazing food, charming service, great value in lively Tooting Market. Love it
Our third visit to Tokova and it gets better every time. Well chosen menu staples with excellent seasonal choices - the food is fantastic. Service can be a little slow at busy times, but it is unfailingly friendly and warm.
Hi Myint, Thank you very much for such a lovely review! I am delighted to hear you enjoyed our menu. Is a challenge though we are trying our best to improved our waiting times bringing our tapas to the tables so our customers have the best experience posible. We look forward to welcoming you again very soon. Cristina
Lovely restaurant. Open kitchen so you can see them making the food. Lovely Basque food
A fabulous evening! Cristina went out of her way to be helpful and accommodating when I was booking for the group, and this level of service continued on the night. Authentic delicious food and lovely wine to compliment. Thank you so much. Everyone in our group said how much they loved it and we’ll definitely be back.
Excellent food. Can’t recommend it enough.
Great food and friendly staff but the food took a long time to get to the table and there were only 3 tables to serve.
Loved this food and the set -up in the market. The specials were lovely (clams, and a pork belly), and we really enjoyed everything we ate. lovely busy atmosphere and sociable set up on bench tables. Great value wine list as well.
Brilliant evening at the chefs bar tonight. Food excellent and served brilliantly by Maisie and her amazing mum. Chef top marks to you too Saif! Wish I could eat more
Deliciously presented food. Faboulous flavours. Can’t wait for another visit. X
Fantastic food. Warm, friendly service. Reasonable prices. Will definitely be back.
The beef dish that I had is definitely in my Top 10 most delicious plates of food I’ve ever eaten!!
Amazing food and Cristina, the owner, as lovely as usual!
Highly recommend this excellent restaurant - great care taken around every detail and service very personal and friendly.
An understated gem nestled in the back of Broadway Market. Tokova serves a Mouth-watering menu of perfectly-crafted small plates inspired by cuisine of the Basque region.
This is the second time we have been to Tokova & nothing has changed the food is of outstanding quality & value staff friendly & efficient we will be coming back lots & telling all our friends👍👍👍
Excellent food. It was a Saturday night so everywhere was very busy but they maintained their excellent standard for food and service.
The best food in Tooting market by far
Great food. Unfortunately it was a freezing cold night and heaters weren’t working. However did not affect the fabulous food!
Excellent! Amazing food, staff were just lovely. Will definitely go back, maybe even just for a quick sneaky cocktail and some bread and butter (which was awesome!!). They were a little bit quiet the night we went, they’re slightly tucked out the way, which was nice for us, but I’d highly recommend people check them out . On a par with Sea Garden and Plot. Perhaps even better!
Service was poor. We ordered our food. On the short menu no pigeon was available. 30 mins later we had had no food served to us. We saw the chef speak to waiter about it. A few mins later the owner came over and said we are sorry but your order got lost so we ordered again. This time the bread with 3 butters was also not available.
We were given water when first arrived. When our wine came they said we will give you more water. No more water arrived throughout the meal despite us asking several times.
Food here was delicious and love the atmosphere in market but service let them down.
Loved it. Food was fantastic and the bill was very reasonable. The lady that runs it is so lovely. Will be going again!
Fabulous Spanish/Basque restaurant. The black rice was so delicious we kept ordering more. We will definitely be back.
Absolutely fantastic food and very good value for the quality.
something really different in Broadway market! We worked our way through the whole list - and like them all!
The food was fantastic and the waiters very friendly. However, the service was not particularly good. There are not enough waiters - there was one poor guy serving everyone and he was trying his best. Our service was not particularly bad but it was slow. The couple next to us actually left half way through their meal as they just were not getting anything that they ordered, which is a shame because the food was delicious!
I will still go back and recommend it to others - they have not been open very long so I am sure the service will improve! And it is definitely worth it for the food.
Kova was amazing, every dish that came out was superb. Delicious, and will definitely be back. A great little find, the young chef is destined to go places! Loved it.
Great food and a fun place to eat. Certainly recommend Kova as a place to eat with a group of friends so you can try the whole menu.
Lovely lovely food and very attentive staff
Hmmm. Well we ate some delicious dishes, octopus with strong earthy mushrooms worked really well, a delicious pink piece of beef with mustard, and pleasant black rice with squid. All served tapas style. But details wind me up nowadays. Served two soup style dishes which although tasty were not suitable for sharing. They gave us teaspoons to eat them with. And the leek confit was the only vegetable on offer apart from the ubiquitous Padron peppers. The choice is limited, its cash only when their page says they take cards and I am not sure about this market eating. In summer the place is sweaty and airless and in winter (now!) drafty and uncomfortable. The tables are narrow and you sit on rickety benches unless you are one of the lucky four to eat at the bar. They do not stock irulegay Basque wine from the French side of the Pyrenees and did not know what it was. There was a very limited red list. Three. House which was vaguely Basque, a Rioja and a classy mountain wine from Southern Spain developed she said by an English guy. We went for house. Dry and reasonable. Service dried up altogether given the business of the evening and sat for twenty minutes waiting to be asked whether we would like cheese or dessert. We went for the bill. 45 pounds for two. So no complaints there. In summary innovative and skilled cooking on show but the management needs sorting. By the way Broadway market is now rammed on Saturdays.
Amazing food and great service. It’s not cheap, given the location, but well worth it.
Owner and her daughter were so lovely and helpful with recommendations
This was amazing food in a great location. The service was also a highlight and the wine list is great too. Good value, I will go back
First-class tapas, reasonably priced in lively market surroundings. Friendly staff.
I read about Kova and booked in advance. We were both looking forward to the meal. Having enjoyed many restaurants in Tooting and Broadway market we thought we knew what to expect. The service and the food and the wine were all subpar. The white wine was warm and the red wine was quite frankly, hot. There was excruciatingly long delays between some plates. The ‘leek confit’ was frankly the worst food I’ve been served in years. Leeks are not even in season, they were undercooked and served drowning in a bowl of indeterminate slop. Speaking of season nearly every dish was way over salted. Poor execution. The squid ink rice was nice and the salmon was edible (though overpriced for the portion). The beef portion for £12 was outrageous! If you want to head to Tooting market, try Sea Garden or Plot but give Kova a miss (sorry!)
This restaurant specialising in food from the Basque region, has a wonderful menu, with tapas size dishes, that it's wise to try as many of as possible. All the dishes are perfectly prepared with amazing flavours. Even things that sound very simple, like squid ink rice are exquisite. The service was very friendly and efficient. Although the food is top notch it is not anything like as expensive as it would be in central London.
Excellent food from the Basque country served beautifully
