Lunch Monday- Friday
A hidden gem for sure. The food & service was spectacular.
Found it very noisy. Very hard to carry in a conversation.
Great food. Pappardelle was tasty. Marinated heirloom tomatoes were excellent. Cozy atmosphere.
Nice Italian spot, we come here every time we're in D.C. - Good service and good cocktails. Scallops appetizer is always amazing. Duck main course and crab ravioli are also very good. The seafood linguini was alright, but the lobster and shrimp were over cooked. I was not impressed with the cannoli this time. Overall it's a nice restaurant.
Very nice evening. Best Italian food we have had in US closer to the original in Italy. Ravioli very good
A lovely, quaint little restaurant with delicious food!
Was surprisingly good and loved the waiters. They knew the wine list and helped select the right items
The food quality and choices are good. My wife and I split an entree and it was done for us in the kitchen. We arrived very early,,actually before they opened and they brought us water to an outside table. It was quiet early but quite noisy as the room filled and our server who was great early go too busy later with bartending duties and not enough help.
Nice homey place with good unpretentious food and attentive but not hovering service. We both had pork chops that were cooked a tad more than desired but still good. Hard walls and low ceilings make this place pretty noisy but not unbearably so. Prices are reasonable. Will come again!
Wonderful neighborhood jewel. Awesome experience.
Fantastic food, outstanding service. Authentic Italian. Fresh ingredients and homemade taste. Inviting atmosphere. You know that feeling when you want to stroll through a park after the meal just to further savor its memory? This is where you get that.
We were very impressed with the quality of the food. The pasta was out of this world fantastic. I ordered the goat cheese gnocchi and it was probably the best pasta dish I have ever tasted!!! Our party included a wheel chair and although there are some stairs down to enter, the staff was very helpful, and the seating was easily accessible. The host even called a cab for us to make things easier for us upon departure. We would definitely eat there again and recommend it to our friends visiting DC.
The food is outstanding the service was excellent, we sat in the bar area so the background noise was loud but not unbearable. The service was impeccable and the ambiance is nice. The wine list is above par and the specials were simply amazing!
Love Tortino! It's an authentic Italian restaurant with professional waiters and great food. We love coming here and have never had a bad meal :) Multiple thumbs up!
Great Place. Small Italien Restaurant wird awesome Food ans Good wines. Highlight recommended ! Very friendly Stuff
Looked forward to trying Tortino's, but were disappointed. Procisutto crostini had good ham, but came only with two very small pieces of bread with a little cheese spread on it. Scallop appetizer was good. Bronzino special was very well prepared. The crab ravioli had tough pasta. Veal tenderloin was mediocre and the potato gratin had little flavor. The special canoli weren't. Service ok, but the waiter keep saying wonderful choice about everything we order, which I find bothersome.
This was our second visit to Tortino and again we brought friends. We were just as pleased as the first time. Again wait staff both fun and informative without being intrusive. A very fine go to dinner for us with friends away of the rush of the city. Everyone selected something different for dinner. I had the special sea bass and it was served to perfection, visually, taste and quality. I'm not good at comparing prices as when I dine out I am more interested in the entire experience and Tortino provides a very good evening!
We've been here at least three times but on this visit the service was not up to par, the soup was watery and the Risotto was uninspiring and not very good. My wife loves the seafood linguini and she orders it every time. I've attempted to try different things each visit but Risotto with four or five slices of sausage presented in a bowl is off my list. When we were done eating we were told that any of the dishes described with cream sauce could have been prepared with marinara. I would have liked to have known that before I ordered.
We will be back but I know that you could do better.
Really great food and service! Nice place!
Stopped here this past Saturday night for a birthday date. We’d had a late lunch, so we skipped appetizers and just got a bottle of Chianti and enjoyed the warm bread with olive oil set out for us. The wine list was a nice size, enough variety to make anyone happy but not so long it gets confusing and hard to decide. WOW was our pasta perfection. I had the braised lamb ravioli, my date had the penne (crab or lobster, I can’t remember exactly). They were both crazy delicious, the pasta was perfectly al dente and the sauces were out of this world. The portion size was medium (as our waiter described, the entrees are larger than the pastas) and just enough food for us. We decided to share a tiaramisu for dessert which was light and airy, the perfect end to the meal. They also brought me a plate of chocolate salami (TRY IT) with ice cream for my birthday! Overall, great experience. Our waiter Tony made sure we always had what we needed.
My ONLY complaint was the noise level. It is a little noisy in the front room; thankfully we were seated in the side room which was a little quieter. There didn’t seem to be music playing either (or maybe I just couldn’t hear it), but I would suggest they play some or turn it up to set the mood and offset the sound of other conversations.
Will definitely be back! Next time I’d like to sit outside, that section was closed when we went as it’s been raining off and on all day.
We had a very enjoyable evening at Tortino. Our table was ready when we arrived. Our waiter was not only attentive but personable & great sense of humor without being intrusive. I am sorry I don’t remember his name. The drinks were cold on a hot & humid day, the food was delicious & plentiful. The ambiance was that of a quaint neighborhood bistro in Europe. Would eat there again if we are in DC!
First time at Tortino. The hostess was friendly and sat us immediately (we did have reservations). Small, intimate setting. The food was great. Cooked to order with a good variety on the menu as well as some seasonal specials. Each member of our group had something different and everything was delicious. We all had dessert which was made at the restaurant. The only drawback was our server who didn’t seem to like us and treated us with great ambivalence. Another waiter even stepped in at one point to “assist” our server as he was “held up” a number of times elsewhere. So we sat and waited a good amount of time. After being there 2 hours we had to ask a busboy to ask our server for our check. Otherwise, the food was wonderful and we enjoyed our meals immensely.
Enjoyed a casual dinner with my son at this restaurant. The seafood pasta was generously festooned with lobster tail, prawns, mussels clams. The lamb ravioli was excellent.
Came in from out of town and read great reviews on trip advisor and was totally disappointed... Food was sub par and service was terrible
Will not return!!
Wanted to try something new to us in DC. Glade we did. This was fantastic. The atmosphere was really good and the food was truly exceptional.
Small neighborhood restaurant. The menu was not the most extensive but there was enough entrees to find something to eat. We shared a very tasty tomato mozzarella salad with a delicious pesto and sopped up the sauce with the warm Italian bread. Our entrees, ossa bucco and salmon were tasty and nicely plated. My husbands lamb shank had quite a bit of sauce and it ran into the potatoes. The sauce should have been lighter and the potatoes could have maintained their delicious flavor. Also the meat and the potatoes could have been hotter. My salmon was me,t in the mouth good. We shred two desserts. Two types of gelato, vanilla and chocolate were excellent. Great coffee and well priced for the quality of our food.
This place is outstanding Everytime. The steak is preapared beautifully. 4/4 💪🏾💯🥗😋🥩🙌🏾🍷👍🏾👍🏾🍮😫🙏🏾
Service was friendly and attentive and the portions were quite generous. The ravioli and osso buco were outstanding! Everyone in our group commented that they would come back! That's the ultimate compliment.
We very much enjoyed our dining experience at Tortino. Kurt, our server was professional and accommodating in helping us with our order, especially our wine selection. The Ripassa Volpolicella was quite nice. Our appetizers of grilled octopus and scallops with cauliflower were great as were our entree of Fettacine Ala Bologonese, Seafood Lunguini and Beef Tenderloin.....And our daughter’s 12th Birthday was very graciously honored with Tiramisu with a candle...this topped-off a wonderful evening.
I was excited to try it the first time based upon the prior reviews but found both the menu and food uninspiring.
I was very pleased with my meal. The Prosecco was very nice. The wine list had sample good, by the glass, selections at modest prices. My scallop appetizer was an amazing mix of flavors and the scallop was cooked perfectly. The sea bass special was delicious and obviously very fresh. The sauce complimented it well. I also enjoyed the desert.
The price was modest for a big city. A great value for the money.
Great service poor food ..... no depth kind of bland
It was lit. Best waiter ever
Excellent food, varied menu, fantastic service. Food was tasty, fresh, and well presented. Dressy casual. Perfect for a date night or dinner out with friends. Staff was very attentive to a food allergy at our table and offered to tailor some of the dishes so we could all share. We like to try lots of different restaurants in DC and don't typically go to the same ones very often, but this is one we'll visit again.
Best calamaris, service was awesome, quiet place for special occasions.
Excellent food, first class service. Pricey but well worth it.
Nice Italian restaurant. My husband loved the bluecrab ravioli and I enjoyed my gnocchi.
Service was horrible and dinners came out cold, waiter was busy with the bar attendees and inconsiderate to his tables
Lovely meal, great service ! Had a great birthday meal there. The wine that was recommended was superb.
Delicious food, outstanding service: wow!
