I love the no phones policy. It added for a more intimate experience!
Nice place with friendly people and excellent service. Both our meals were wonderful!
The small booth for 2 is just fine for a couple that want to enjoy food & conversation.
We dine out at least 4 times a week, typically two fine restaurants and two more casual ones. Cadwallader's is always 100% consistent with great food and exceptional service. I've never seen them have a bad day. Best steak in Augusta, hands down (tried them all and no contest), and also good selections if you're in mood for fish, lamb, pork, whatever. Good selection of wines that are perfect with meals, and reasonable. Atmosphere is romantic and very nice for quiet meal and pleasant conversation. Great beer selections too. Make reservations a few days ahead because it's popular and they fill up fast. Going out on a limb and boldly saying it's the best restaurant in Augusta area (and that includes the supposed hot spot on Broad Street which I continually find underwhelming when visiting with friends)......the other two or three "best" in Augusta, while I like, enjoy, and patronize too, are overrated for food, imho, with less great entrees to choose from. Because of that I believe Cadwallader's has no equal.
This was our first visit to Cadwalladers and our last. We made an early reservation at 6 to celebrate our anniversary to miss the crowd and not feel rushed. We did indeed miss the crowd as the restaurant was empty except for three others two-somes. Instead of seating us at a real table as the few others were; we were sat at a mini 3x3 table next to the waiter station. Not only would small children be cramped, the non movable chair was very uncomfortable. Other couples arriving after us were allowed to sit at adult tables but I guess we didn't make the cut.
The food was hit and miss. My wife's Ceaser salad was very good with a great anchovy flavor. I had the crab cakes who's saving grace was the mango salsa. The wife had the New York strip which was overcooked; with asparagus and blue cheese potatoes that are both very good. I had the parmesan shrimp and scallop risotto which was excellent, definitely the high point of the visit. Desert is not my forte but the strawberry shortcake meringue (the actual name escapes me) was very tasty. The writing of happy anniversary on the plate was nice of the staff. My wife enjoyed the wine selection; so that was a plus for her as well.
Overall it was not an experience that we felt was worthy of the occasion or the pricing. We took a shot on an unknown (to us) primarily based on wanting to try a new venue and the close location to our home in Evans. Expensive lesson to learn.
Very pleasant and quiet with friendly and attentive service. Food was all excellent. Menu is rather limited and we checked before going on their website and saw they were serving halibut but found when we got there that the menu on-line had not been updated and there was no halibut that night which was a disappointment. Overall one of the best restaurants we have found in Augusta (we are recent arrivals to the area).
The dinner was excellent
The wine selection was somewhat limited and pricey
this was my second time to dine here and was my choice for my anniversary with wife. We had a lovely waitress and she was very efficient and the food was just like we ordered it. I am still looking at other places to celebrate, and this is the best one so far.
The food was tremendous. Very quiet and the ambiance was nice.
An absolutely wonderful dining experience. The owner and staff were engaging and the service was top notch.
We have known Mary and Colden for about 30 years (we do not live in Augusta any more) and after being away more than 20 years were pleasantly surprised to see the restaurant which had started as a hospitable, comfortable deli grown into a beautiful, still hospitable, full restaurant. Their food is surpassed only by their friendship. We have tried to time our travel from Birmingham, AL so that we can enjoy a delicious dining experience with them. Please don't miss dining at one of Augusta's finest restaurants, if you haven't had the opportunity.
We had reservation, yet we were set in an extremely small booth.....next to an old door that was nasty . Also my husband's silverware was dirty and my steak knife was falling apart. The food itself was delicious, but, the atmosphere for the price of the food was way under par. Don't think I'll be back.
Wonderful Anniversary Dinner! Food was excellent and so was dessert! Our waiter was so attentive and owner came over frequently to make sure everything was up to our satisfaction! Richard and I agreed to ourselves to come monthly!👍🏻🍾
Always at the top of our list, we celebrated my wife's birthday at Cad's and had another top-notch dinner and drinks. They have one of the most well-balanced and innovative menus in Augusta, Colden is always welcoming, and we always feel like we are special (even if we aren't) when we eat there. A m\ust dine venue.
The food was fabulous. The pricing was reasonable. The only sad part was that it was VERY LOUD. We could not hear each other.
Always treated like special guests by Colden and the other staff members. They know what we like and always accommodate us like VIP’s and we’re just regular folks. It’s our favorite restaurant to dine as the risotto is off the charts and the desserts are incredible!
Excellent as always.
Outstanding food and service. Quiet enough for serious conversation, business or otherwise. Reasonable wine selection, standard fare of usual alcoholic offerings.
Excellent steak and game preparations, limited vegetarian choices.
Signage could be better. Somewhat hard to find without a GPS. Limited hours.
Great little find. The history is adorable. The owner seats you, and his wife makes from scratch bread
As usual the food and service was outstanding.
Incredible hidden gem. Wasted two years before discovering it. Everything excellent - food service and especially drimks and dessert. Will go. Back over and over. G
Exceptional food and service. Quiet environment. Perfect for conversation and special occasions.
Great Masters week restaurant!
The food made the experience and made up for a lot of the other issues. The host/owner seemed frazzled and interrupted our dining experience negatively on multiple occasions. My hope is it was an off night given it was masters week. Our server was great and did her best to make it a great experience.
Outstanding. Good portions and great atmosphere. Enjoyed it.
We were in town for The Masters and looking for a restaurant that took reservations. I was glad I found this place. It is tucked away just off of Washington but the service and food were excellent. The owner greeted us and was very welcoming. The servers and table staff did a wonderful job. We had the sea scallops appetizer on the risotto which was delicious. The 21 day, dry-aged, Alderwood salt rubbed New York Strip was prepared to perfection. The double lamb chops were also delicious. I would definitely eat here again!
This is by far the best restaurant in Augusta. The food is great and the chef always does a superb job.
Always great been going since take out in 1983
Tasty food, but over-priced and small portions. Very friendly waitstaff and didn’t feel like a stuffy environment, yet enjoyed a nice meal.
Great hidden gem! The food was well prepared and wine list was excellent.
Good tasted great! Portion size was really small for the price. If portion size was bigger would've been a 5 star review. But for 1 appetizer 2 dinners, 2 deserts and 2 drinks was 165$
Started with drinks and a cheese plate for 2 at the bar. Moved to our table for wine and dinner. Wife had the filet and I had the bone in ribeye special. Perfect temp on the steaks and the sides were on point! Waiter was knowledgeable about wine and helpful during ordering. Timing was right on. My only complaint was 10$ for a bowl of very average french onion soup. Overall we'll back for the food and to see the best moustache in Augusta!
Food was ok. Had the filet which could cut with a fork but really lacked a lot of flavor. Wife had the halibut which was good.
Very nice quiet restaurant. Food was excellent, as well as wine recommendation.
We haven't been in a few months. So it was nice to go back. We always enjoy their food. It is always creative and incredibly delicious!
Enjoyed another lovely dinner here for my birthday!
Staff was great. Food excellent.
We have been to Cadwallader’s several times and the experience is always good; however, this time it was not as good as usual. The food was delicious (husband had Mahi and I had Seafood Risotto), but they were out of a number of items. My husband had wanted the Halibut, but they were out of it. We heard another waiter tell the table next to us that they were out of another entree also. When it came time for dessert, we asked for our options and the waiter told us they had had 5 choices but were out of 2 of them. The other 3 did not appeal to me, so I was going to pass on dessert. Then the waiter said that they might have just 1 Apple Crostini that we could share, but they were out of the ice cream that was normally paired with it. He offered another ice cream, and luckily we did get the last crostini. It was tasty. We were just amazed that they were out of so many items on a Saturday night. We have never experienced that before. I hope this was just an off night.
Delicious, as always! The duck wings are PERFECTLY cooked, and the pork chop is succulent and wonderfully fulfilling. Definitely going back!
Had the halibut and my husband had the Mahi mahi. It was great as always. Love this place!!
