Another visit to Osteria 177 and another excellent meal. The service was excellent and attentive and we were allowed to sit and talk without feeling like we were in the way. We will again return to enjoy another excellent meal!
Fantastic as usual. Creative fine dining at its best
Food was decent higher end Italian but our server was one of the most 'blah' servers I've had, especially for a finer dining restaurant. Hardly a greeting, minimal effort throughout, the bus staff did the bulk of the actual service to our table and put in more initiative. I shouldn't have tipped a full 20% to reward such behavior. I've worked in the service industry and you expect to get above average service at an above average dining restaurant so this aspect alone made it a sub par experience.
Disappointed that one side of $60 lamb chop entree was burned. Chef disagreed. Staff reduced our bill. Branzino x 2 was outstanding. Never fun to send something back. Uneven recovery, but still a fun night. Will stick with the fish next time.
Our favorite restaurant in Annapolis. The food is consistently excellent. You cannot go wrong with fish dishes and pastas. Accompanying sauces are superb. The service is beyond reproach. Love this restaurant for a quiet, romantic lunch and a special occasion dinner.
Another great experience for a special occasion. We celebrated a birthday with attentive and smart service, delectable dishes, and a gracious atmosphere. A delightful time for all of us.
Was delightfully surprised ! Will go again we return to the area!
As usual, we had a great experience at Osteria. Food was excellent and the service made us feel very at home. The wine list has lots of wonderful Italian options - our Barolo was great and paired very well with our meal. While not inexpensive, I highly recommend Osteria.
Osteria 177 was a wonderful dining experience overall. The staff was very accommodating to our schedules and to one of our party's special dietary requirements. The wine selection was good. The wait staff was knowledgeable and helpful. The food was very good, and, except for the Caesar salad (which had too much dressing), was well prepared. We would definitely return.
Honestly disappointed for the cost and hype. Nice booth, as we requested, food was good but not great and service was fair.
I have dined at this restaurant several times now. It has been a great experience every time. The food always tastes great and the presentation is very nice as well. Their gnocchi is one of the best I’ve ever had.
Excellent food, service, and drinks!
Restaurant was great! Only negaitive was where we were seated . Table was in an awkward spot located right by bar and in between main restaurant. Honestly they should just for go that spot for a table and only offer to people that are walk ins. Let people decide if they want to sit at that location. I made a reservation and was assigned that table. With that being said the service was phoenominal and we enjoyed Keith our waiter . My dish was excellent , ordered the penne vodka. Would highly recommend, taste was amazing . Would visit restaurant again but make phone reservations requesting a booth.
In one word Fantastic
The food and service were absolutely outstanding. This is the best restaurant in Annapolis.
We had an outstanding meal, wait staff, bartender and owner were all very accommodating . Look forward to returning.
We had dinner on October 7, 2018 while we were in Annapolis for the Boat show (sailboats). The food was very good (we ate oysters, pasta, veal carpaccio and antipasto) . Our italian waiter was competent and nice. The chairs were very comfortable. It was not too noisy. People around us seem to be enjoying their meal as well. They had a good wine list. We were happy to learn they had expresso (good coffee is hard to find in Annapolis). I would recommend this restaurant but it is not for all budget.
Another great meal, the fourth time I have dined at Osteria while in Annapolis and it never disappoints. We always make it a place to eat when in town. Great food, service and atmosphere.
We had a wonderful meal but it is a little pricey for 3 of us it was over $225 with only one glass of wine and an antipasto we shared
We eat here as often as possible. It takes about an hour for us to get to Annapolis from our home, and it is well worth the ride.
Simple- this place is fantastic. Everything about it is top notch. Food, service, etc, all amazing.
Note- the caramelized sea bass is just incredible.
When you eat at an establishment more then five times a month it is because it is fantastic. The food and the service is over the top. If it is not on the menu just ask and they can prepare it for you.
Excellent restaurant, food, ambiance and service. Highly recommended for date night or for a business meeting.
Excellent food! A bit pricey, but definitely a great special occasion restaurant.
Great place awesome food and drink
fabulously good food and absolutely great service. enjoy!
Very professional wait staff. Menu selection is varied and daily specials are a nice complement to the menu.
Sea bass and daily pasta special were fantastic and from the appetizer to main course, we were not disappointed. Best restaurant in Annapolis.
Food was excellent and creatively prepared. Number of exciting specials. Fish and appetizers were outstanding. Highly recommend.
This was rated as the best Italian food in town (4.5). The menu was good, but the food was very ordinary.
I ordered a latte. It came in a metal pitcher. The contents was weak coffee with cream added. Zero foam. After sending it back, it was returned with a weak attempt, no better than the first try.
The biggest complaint I have with Open Table are the ratings. A high percentage of restaurants are rated 4 and better. Many 4.5’s and up are mediocre.
Most of the bery best restaurants have slightly higher ratings than the mediocre ones.
We eat out for dinner about 200 or more times per year, and find the same issue all the time.
I have been here a couple of times before and the experience was much better overall. Our waiter rushed us through the ordering process and seemed to be annoyed at us for taking our time ( the restaurant was not packed and there was no one waiting to be seated the entire time we were there) I wanted to try a sample of a wine I was unsure about but they would not open a bottle for me- I've never had that happen in a fine dining restaurant! The appetizer we had was outstanding and although my fish was wonderful and the sauce delicious, the 2 slivers of over cooked veggies and the small dollop of uninspired mashed potatoes were not worthy of the fish it came with. Our dessert was very good and overall we enjoyed ourselves but it could've been better for the price.
If you want better Italian cuisine you might find it in Italy. Osteria outshines them all in this whole area.
This has been one of my favorite restaurants but Saturday night was a bit of a disappointment. We sat down at 6:30 PM, waiting for some friends who came 10 minutes later, Ordered drinks and wine about 6:50 at 7:20 PM, we still had not been served drinks, then the wine did not come which I told him to bring with the drinks.
I had the duck which was OK. The others who had fish were very happy.
Hopefully, this was the exception on a holiday weekend.
The food was absolutely amazing!! The only thing that would have made our experience better was the service. They seemed maybe understaffed; our service was quite overwhelmed - but he worked hard. Can’t wait to go back!
Our meal was outstanding from start to finish. The chef has a deft touch with seafood, and the quality of the food was fantastic. Our server was great! I highly recommend Osteria 177.
Wow, the food here is always delicious. For example, calamari is grilled not deep fried. Awesome.
the wine list is extensive, but very pricy (difficult to get bottles under $80...) .
Great vacation dinner. Attentive service, delicious food and we enjoyed a table near the front where we could people watch. Relaxing and enjoyable meal.
Vitello tonnato is a must, hopefully it will be on their menu. From the greeting, to the service, to the presentation of our delightful meals...perfection!
Perfect for an outstanding Italian meal. Great ingredients, presentation and service.
Amazing dinner. Best calamari ever! Our server was Keith and he could not have been better
This restaurant came highly recommended. We are not from the area so there for we had to ask around for recommendations. This was a great find. Would definitely visit again!
My husband and I celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary at Osteria 177. My husband doesn't care about food or dining out ~ he just humors me! However, he was very impressed with the food, the friendly, but not intrusive service, and the overall ambience of the restaurant. I heard him actually talking to our children about what a great experience it was! I was elated that he had such a good time! Both of us ordered fish entrees and they were superb! The Chilean Sea Bass and the Red Snapper entrees should not be missed. Osteria does fish superbly. It is clear that they source the freshest fish and prepare it with great care. Overall, the food reminded us of dining in Rome. You should not miss the panna cotta at the end of the meal. It really felt like we were back in Italy.
You will not be disappointed.
On reflection there were only two small missteps:
The first was the champagne brought to us and presented as complimentary. My husband and I mentioned how kind it was of the restaurant only to find out the next day it was sent by our children to wish us a happy anniversary.
The second was a very disappointing Caesar Salad. The chopped lettuce was lackluster, over dressed and sprinkled with parmesan instead of nice shards of a good Parmigiano-Reggiano. I was looking for well-made house made croutons only to find four very disappointing ones of some type. I recognize from the quality of Osteria's food that this salad is not up to their standard.
However, I want this review to end on a high note because overall, we had great service, wonderful food and will, without a qualm, return for another fine dining experience.
