Incredibly elegant and modern atmosphere with so much history you could feel it. Steak was incredible, cocktails were amazing. No complaints here.
Been here 4 times and always cant wait to come back for that bone-in filet!
always a pleasure to be there because it is an architectural gem.
Dimly lit so it was hard for a foodie to take pictures but the bar area is wonderful and lively. The food was fantastic and it should be if I'm paying $60 for a ribeye. The sauces are a ripoff and should come with an order instead of paying $12 for all the sauces.
Cocktails were good.
Entire staff was polite and down to earth and treated my wife and I like we were the number one priority.
Great place! Our nice table was given to someone else, but the maitradie quickly found another table that was equally as good. Fun d and service was excellent!
Came here with my husband for his birthday dinner. We waited 30 minutes to be seated even though we had a reservation. The hostess said she would find us to be seated, we ended up coming back to the desk & she said she couldn't find us (we were at the bar, where she suggested we wait). For us, that was the biggest flaw of the night. But the atmosphere was awesome, so it helped with the wait. Drinks were good, but we did not order drinks from their menu. Food was prepared and cooked to our liking. The menu is not too extravagant but everything we ordered, we finished to the last bite. We got a bit of everything, couple of apps, a pasta dish, and steak. Steak was perfect! I would definitely go back for steak. We didn't stay for dessert, but the options all looked appealing. The wait staff was attentive & food was prepared in a timely fashion. The manager also came to our table to wish my husband a happy birthday, which is always a nice gesture from a restaurant. Overall, everything was super yummy & would go back again.
This was our first time to the Rec Pier Chop House and probably our last time. Service started out fine but after waiting a while for the appetizers, having to ask for bread, having a steak resent back to the kitchen since it was not medium rare as ordered, and waiting almost 20 minutes for the steak to return, and then some appetizers were too small to share, we were disappointed given that this restaurant was listed as one of the top 50 best in Baltimore. The pasta dishes were not anything close to what one could get at a good restaurant in Little Italy but the steaks, although pricey, were pretty good. The fish was very tender but a very small fish for $40.00. We could not have a conversation at our table since the noise all around us was loud.
The steak is really cooked to the right temperature. The texture is perfect. Also, I didn’t need extra sauce to add to the taste. I can say that it is almost perfect.
My family of four came here for a birthday celebration recently. The food left a little bit to be desired. My husband ordered a veal chop and it was very pricey, but since we were in a chop house, we expected it to be a little bit more expensive than usual. The problem was that it was very fatty and he said it had very little flavor. I would probably have sent it back or asked for another one had it been my meal, but my husband will not send food back no matter what is wrong with it. I ordered the diver scallops which were outstanding, right along with the mushrooms and sunchokes that accompanied them. My only problem was that there were only three on the plate, and that was my entree! I also had the autumnal squash soup which was fantastic. I had a cocktail which was call the Eye of the Bee Holder. It, too, was excellent. My son had a pasta that had broccoli rabe in it and sausage. He said it was good but not great. It was a bit rubbery. His fiancee had the linguine fini, which was very good. My husband had the calamari for an appetizer and it was very good. I had mentioned that it was my son's birthday, and they did a very nice job of wishing him a happy birthday and bringing around the statue with the sparklers in it. All in all, it was a good meal... not great, especially when you factor in that by the time we had drinks and desserts, it was close to $420 before tip. We won't be back.
We visited Rec Pier for our 21st wedding anniversary. We made reservations a week in advance, but were asked to wait almost half an hour for our table to be ready, during which time our drink orders were taken twice but never brought. When seated, we were given a table wedged into a corner next to the salad prep station. We asked for a better table but were refused reseating despite several open tables. Our server, Alex, was a bright spot and mostly rescued the evening for us, though he was hampered by excessive noise levels and not being able to actually reach our table due to the aforementioned prep station, which was constantly bumping our table and seats as it was wheeled in and out to fill orders. The food was very good, but not spectacular, especially for the price. It's a shame, because it is a beautiful place with a good staff, but we were disappointed and certainly did not feel that we were celebrating as much as enduring. We will likely not return.
Excellent is every way
Great place for a festive birthday dinner! They were also very accommodating with dietary restrictions
I used to love this place. Last few times, I noticed the quality of the food and attentiveness of the waiters has taken a dive. You would think after sending the steak back twice, the waiter/manager would at least make sure not to add $30 worth of unwarranted orders (let alone decrease the bill). Not so. All along while saying we “take your comments to heart”. Sad, but what a joke...
Great experience the whole time! On the pricey side but they offer food selections unseen in many restaurants. Whole seabream was buttery goodness and so tender! The tomahawk steak is an Instagram dream.
Everything exceeded expectations. Only complaint is that the TVs dominate the dining room if you are facing that direction.
The inside is a great atmosphere, this was our 2nd time dining here. The four of us all ordered steak, and they were average at best. The sides are limited and were ok, but obviously everything is very overpriced.
I would have drinks here, not dinner.
We went as a group of 5 for a family birthday. Excellent food - some of the best modern Italian we’ve ever had. They are good for birthdays, they do a little celebration at the table (but no singing). Excellent massive wine selection and delicious cocktails. Good service for a busy weekend night.
We were a party of six. We all enjoyed the ambience and food. We started with a couple of Caesar Salads. Two were enough for the table to share. We followed with two pastas and again enough for the group to share and sample. We ordered mostly seafood although one steak was ordered. The opportunity to order all sides for a discount was great and the bone marrow salsa was great with the steak. Definitely recommended for parties of 4-6 to share salads, pasta and sides. A great way to sample many options from the menu. We sat at a round booth/table facing the windows with a nice view of Fells Point. . Very nice view. It was a large table and could accommodate up to 8 people so talking across the table was a little hard. This created a high noise level in the restaurant. Perhaps not the best for quiet dinner for 2. We would recommend for groups of 4 to 8 people who want to sample great foods.
Anniversary dinner with my wife! It was an awesome experience with great service. The food was amazing!
Joe & Genene October 20/2018 :)
It has been a while since I have enjoyed a steak in baltimore
Please keep it up
The food was average although the crab cake was delicious except covered with tomato sugo..it was Maryland crabmeat and not Asian crab like many restaurants in Maryland use for their crab cakes. The servings are very scant at lunch(4 small pieces flank steak for steak salad which was comprised of one type of green and steak and little to no blue cheese or pears. POORLY PLATED ! Expensive for what little you get plus the food very average (lunch with one beer each, 1 crab cakes app and two salads) for the two of us plus tip was 85$
I chose this restaurant to attend for my Husbands 30th Birthday dinner and it did not disappoint. Located within Baltimore's newest hotel, the Sagamore Pendry, Rec Pier Chophouse offers decadent cuisine and an upscale ambiance amongst Baltimore's kind of lack luster restaurant scene. My husband and I are very much foodies but also love to dine in places with a great back drop for our more special occasions. This restaurant has a large floor to ceiling window that looks onto Thames Street and cozy tufted booths throughout the restaurant. Our waiter was very prompt and asked us would be prefer still or sparkling water and also gave us great insight on the spirits and cocktail selection. I chose one with Dark and White Rum (I believe it was a not so traditional mai tai and seasonal) and my Husband chose a drink with vodka, lemon and basil. So refreshing!
The food menu offers a selection of italian cuisine, which is one of our favorites and we did have to ask some questions but our waiter was very accommodating. For our first course, we both selected the butternut squash soup. Not overly sweet but warming and bisque like it was very tasty and good until the very last drop. For our main course, I selected the linguine fini topped with maryland crab and my Husband chose the troffie alla genovese. The food was very tasty. My only complaint is that the waiter told us the portions were family sized sharing portions. Luckily we ordered two dishes because they were honestly not that large in my opinion. I ate my entire dish and I am not a very large person by any standards. So not small but definitely not the family sized portions we have had in the past at other restaurants both in the US and abroad.
We did not do dessert; however for birthdays they bring out a large horse reminiscent of the Horse statue in their courtyard with a sparkler attached. It is not edible but a very unique way to celebrate. All in all, a great experience for such a lovely occasion.
Disappointing Brunch Menu - need a few more lunch items to balance out the selection. We arrived 1.45 and the restaurant was nearly empty...
It was great and the service was beyond that.
Food delivers - it is that good albeit very expensive cuts of meat. I have been twice - once last December and now nearly a year later. Service is slow and inattentive. A meal for 2 should not take 2.5 hours with 3 courses. I expected that service in December as they were fairly new. A year later the kinks should be worked out particular for the price tag of a fine dining experience
My husband and I have given this place several tries, and each time we leave just as disappointed as the last time. The main bar staff is terrible, slow and lazy - if they even acknowledge you, the food is always too salty and over seasoned, and frankly the server staff is slow and sparse. The design and aesthetic are the best thing about this hotel & restaurant, however they lack in professionalism of their staff. Additionally, it’s not casual dining so they need to be a bit more strict with the attire people are allowed to wear in the place. Sweatpants and cargo shorts do NOT match up with a $20 cocktail. They need to really get it together.
On the plus side: Rose was our server and she was great this time around. Their Caesar salad is the best thing on the menu, and again - the design and aesthetic is great. Everything else falls EXTREMELY flat. Won’t be going back anymore.
Great food and very cool space. Service was so-so. They were efficient, just unfriendly / didn't seem like they wanted to be there.
Came to celebrate my wife and her promotion. The manager was actually our server because of a call out. He was amazing. The first thing he did was welcome us and congratulate my wife on her promotion. A very little thing that had a great impact on the night. The service, drinks, and food were excellent. Thank you!
Loved the calamari, pasta with crab, Caesar salad and desserts were to die for. Great service especially Peter, Ilya and Kevin. Ryan was an amazing Somm... loved the Sancerre!! A must in Baltimore!
Beautiful venue; service was excellent although it talk too long between courses. A manager came by to apologize and offered us a glass of wine because of that. Much appreciated.
Food is a bit pricey as you might expect, but delicious. Maybe the best was a huge, delicious Caesar salad.
Pricey but absolutely delicious. 4 of us ate family style, and loved the appetizers (octapus, cesaer, beets), the spicy crab, pasta, and the Porterhouse and Veal Chop. A lot of food!! Everything was outstanding. The meat is simply exceptional. Wine recommended by sommelier was the most reasonably price part of the meal (a Rhone) . We'd heard service could be spotty, but ours was spot on. Friendly, knowledgable, and timely.
When we go back, we'll order a little less food. But, we will go back.
I went here with my wife for anniversary dinner. They made us feel very special. Space is gorgeous. Highly recommend if you are looking for a special occasion on the higher end of price scale
Another amazing dining experience! We had the special ricotta appetizer followed by a table-side Caesar salad, a spaghetti and meatball second course followed by a perfectly prepared Tomahawk Steak. The Sommelier, April, matched a perfect Barolo to the meal.
The food would have been excellent if it was not so salty. That was disappointing but such a cool place with great service. We will try again.
wonderful place to have a meeting of colleagues, incredibly well informed and professional waiters, knowledgeable sommelier, delightful meal all round. The steak is not to be missed!
Expensive but delicious. Beautiful setting and service was top-notch.
Our server was fantastic. All of the staff was very warm and welcoming. It was our first time there and we will definitely be back.
Staff is amazing, food is amazing, the decor, and ambiance is amazing.
Dinner for 4 on 9/29, Saturday night at 8pm, the place was hopping, but seated at a large table in front the windowed front looking out on a Thames Street. Ambiance was amazing, the carpet keeps the noise down to reasonable for conversation, loved it. Food was delicious, highly recommend the ricotta appetizer and romaine salad, mixed right at the table. The Sommelier and Server were both wonderful, service was absolute top notch. The Linguine Fini...the spice overpowered the plentiful lump crab, but wonderful nonetheless. The steaks were excellent for the price, a little too burned on the extreme edges for my tastes. Medium rare was a tad more to the medium side on both of the steaks we had, so it would be helpful to point out the expectation just to make sure. It was still delicious, though, and we didn't want to wait to have another one tossed on as was suggested by the manager. I highly recommend this place, the experience from start to finish was top notch, through and through! Will definitely be back.
