Took my mom here for Mother’s Day, and per usual our meal was exceptional, the service was amazing (thanks Natalie), as well as the rest of the staff, and the owner was very gracious. Absolutely recommend for a girls night, special occasion, date night, or just celebrating life! You won’t be disappointed.
Our first time, we enjoyed our experience and look forward to our next visit.
it was amazing !! loved the food, the service was lovely.
It was alright. The garlic bread was amazing...very soft and flavorful. The service was ok since we had to ask for a few things several times. The red sauce tasted a little watered down. I expected a lot more richness at that price point.
Unfortunately, the service was a disappointment and the restaurant is not what it was. Management is poor and inconsiderate of the customer’s experience. Will not return.
We had a delicious meal at Rothschilds on Saturday night. The Caesar salad was very good. I had the Pistachio Pesto Fettuccine that was delicious. The atmosphere was lively and there was a DJ that played great music. Our service was excellent.
Secomd time recently and food consistently good. Deservedly popular, high energy level.
Always a great service with an incredible meal!
Awesome experience. Superb food and service. An overall great dining experience
My husband and I love this restaurant! The dining room and bar are beautiful, and I’ve never had a dish there that I didn’t love. My very favorite things are their garlic bread, and the Caesar salad.
Just OK food and service. That's being kind too. Really loud dining room due to blasting music for the 40+ drunken divorcee crowd in the bar. The wine and dessert were the best parts of the meal.
Always a sure bet here, consistently great.
Absolitely superb selections. Pasta, meatballs, and crême brulée just wonderful. Check reasonable. Crowd loud and obviously loving the food!
I had called ahead of time saying this is my first visit, it’s my sister’s bday, there’s a group of eight and to please give us the best table with the best experience... well we did get a great table but the service was slow. I heard this restaurant is upscale so I expected the prices to be higher. It turned out to be very disappointing because not one mishaps but several. The bday girl ordered the daily special which was intolerable to eat, too salt. She order a replacement but that was also too salty and capers were on the fish which she specifically asked to leave off. My dish lacked the shrimp and lobster I ordered. Had to wait for a second dish. Coffee was seriously Luke warm, ordered replacements -still Luke warm. My dad just drank it, as he has coffee after dinner. Limoncello was too sugary . I did speck to the manager explaining all this and especially disappointed. The bill was almost $600 which is ok if at a finer restaurant. The upside, very cozy cute ambiance, meatballs and garlic bread are very good. And $100 wine was good. I am willing to try another experience here ordering another dish.
They should describe the restaurant «For people over 70”! To slow, to much unhealthy fats.
Fabulous!! Best beet salad, meatballs, sea bass, everything is over the top better than you could imagine. The garlic bread is addicting, beware.
Visited on Saturday evening 4/24/21 for dinner. Had a confirmed reservation for outdoor dining at 7:30 PM. Arrived on time and was told there were no tables available. Opted for indoor seating. BIG mistake. We entered through the bar, which was completely packed. Had to push our way through the crowd to get to the hostess. She seated us at a two-top in the middle of the room. The noise level was deafening. People were literally shouting at each other to be heard. Tables were NOT properly distanced (only a few feet apart), and except for two servers and the bartender, no employee was wearing a mask. I don't know how they get away with violating all CDC guidelines for dining in.
The service was good, although slow. 45 min from being seated to served. For $200, we had grilled salmon and a lobster salad, plus a bottle of champagne. Unfortunately, we couldn't have a conversation. We rushed to finish and I had to track down someone to take our credit card. Could not get out of there fast enough.
We've been coming here for years. It used to be a "neighborhood gem", but now just a noisy, overcrowded bar with a restaurant. So sad to see how this lovely restaurant has changed.
The food was good, we loved the charcuterie and the spicy shrimp. The salmon special was delicious as was the ribeye..the bolognese sauce was delicious. The pesto was recommended but I thought it was too lemony so I wouldn't order that again
So sad to see this once very good restaurant go down hill fast. Food was just about inedible.
I absolutely adore your lobster salad. I have brought two new people to your restaurant in the past three weeks. Thank you for being such a super restaurant in every way possible. Sincerely, Judy Sego
Fantastic as always!
Excellent and polite service, food was very good- no complaints here.
If there was a downside, it has nothing to do with the restaurant itself- Newport Beach restaurant crowds can be strange in general, if you don’t live there. You know the scene: Creepy 55 year old botoxed guys who try to hit on my wife, 75 y/o grandpa’s with 30 y/o girlfriends, 70 y/o women wearing skin tight body suits with huge fake boobs pushed up under their chin. When I put it that, I actually should frequent Newport more often... the people watching is second to none 👌🏼
This place is a trip. It was my fiances birthday and we had spent the previous week at the Spectrum celebrating my acceptance to UCI. It was disappointing. We decided to try Rothschilds instead of heading back to another mall for overpriced standard dinner fare. It was a great decision. The place was alive inside and we had a nice table outside. We were probably the youngest people there but it was great people watching for a couple college students. The filet I ordered was phenomenal. Medium-rare and cooked to perfection. We had a couple cocktails and just enjoyed people watching.
Food and Service were both Five Star and Ms. Debbie is amazing, she made everything perfect for us. THANK YOU! Liz & Wowie
Rothschilds Restaurant was at the top of the list. The food was some of the best I’ve ever had, with the service being even better. The feeling when walking in was nothing other than a good one. Being greeted with smiles behind masks and a cozy feeling is something I wouldn’t find anywhere else
Had a great night with friends!! One of our favorite restaurants
The food was great. We wanted an appetizer that wasn't on the menu and later we found out we could have ordered it. Had our favorite desert. It was a little loud but we were upstairs so it wasn't bad. Enjoyed our evening.
Service was excellent. Food was good. We were seated next to a large loud group which kind of ruined our dining experience.
Wonderful Atmosphere and Delicious Food & Drinks!
My wife Liz and I had dinner Fri night. I'll start by saying that we have hands down considered Rothschild's our favorite restaurant and eat there often with friends at least twice a month for nearly 10 years and recommend it to everyone. NOT ANYMORE. The meal and service was great, but it was very crowded and the inside was SRO and a bouncer at the front gate. Well OK. When I got home I realized I couldn't find my phone and after much looking called Rothschild's half dozen times and no answer. So I drove back there and was stopped by the front bouncer. I explained I may have left my phone there and he let me in. I looked for someone who worked there and asked if he could check on my phone and he said he was too busy. It was packed inside and out I persisted and he said someone will look for it and to wait outside. I waited for about 15 min and then kept asking the bouncer if anyone was going to help me. The first staff person came out and I asked again and he said someone is looking for it. Nothing was being done. Finally after pestering the front bouncer he asked for my number and called my phone. I thought he was calling inside to confirm they found mine, but instead my wife answered from home. She found it just after I left. She called the restaurant another half dozen times to notify me but again no one was answering. Finally I was about to head home when the inside staff member (I think wearing a blue cap) came over to me and said "You are a dick" and the outside bouncer agreed. I avoided confrontation and smoothed things over by apologizing and shaking their hands, but WTF!!!
Needless to say you have lost one of your best Ambassadors and word will spread to my friends, colleagues and acquaintances. You had a nice restaurant, now you are throwing rave parties and being disrespectful! That might work for awhile, but the Millennials will soon dump you for the next new hot spot and then you're toast. Always remember the adage "Know who you are."
Rothschild's is great food, great service and great people watching. Highly recommend it!
Having lived in CDM for over 25 years, Rothschilds used to be one of my favorite go-to to restaurants for celebration with my family. I have many wonderful memories of taking my girls there ever since they were toddlers for Xmas Eve or valentines dinner and the service was always impeccable and food delicious. Rothschilds however seems to have forgotten how to treat local longtime clientele, choosing instead to favor patrons who are there to party and disregard any safety rules at an alarming level. I was there with two other women professional friends for an outdoor dinner the other night. First, there is no attempt to comply with any masking rules inside the restaurant and at the bar. Second, a woman manager/staff tried to rudely hustle us out of there, despite that a table full of loud men next to us were not being asked to leave. We of course had no issue leaving after dinner and had planned to do so but it was the way we were asked and the disparate treatment. Then the female manager retuned and accosted my friend (a well-known business leader) that she was “f—“ rude and to never return. We notified her boss whose family owns the restaurant and he didn’t seem to care. Unfortunately, I’m sorry to say that after decades of patronage, we will never return to Rothschilds.
Great food and service as always. Friendly staff and their daily specials of fish are the freshest in town.
Amazing always 🍷🍾
Waiters are dress very casual not great but ok, but with no face mask all the time terrible image.
Please don’t drop your good standards.
Beisball caps unacceptable, have some minimum class please!
Apparently they don’t know what capacity restrictions are. The dining room was at full capacity and the wait staff had to squeeze between chairs. The food was above average but nothing to write home about.
Rothchilds never disappoints!
We had a great time, its a fun place to dine and the staff are awesome.
First time at Rothchilds with a friend. NO SOCIAL DISTANCING - full capacity. Tables are about 3 feet apart - absolutely packed with people in a very small, cramped room. Wonder how they get away with that! Both of us ordered the shrimp entree - both came way overcooked - like rubber. Sent it back and we both reordered pasta - we thought that would be safe. Unbelievably, it came undercooked - not even al dente. Tired of waiting at this point so just did not eat our meals. A very disgusting experience - never again.
