    The food was very good, especially liked the biscuits with ham and creamy, slightly sweet goat cheese. My wife had a delicious Mahi, my chicken sandwich was a real treat with the fried egg. Bar was a little slow but drinks were very good. Service was top-class. A beautiful oasis and a major bargain. BRAVO!

    If you haven't stopped here before, you should try out the new menu under the new chef. We shared the shrimp appy with the pork entry for my wife and I had the short ribs. Cleaned the plates. The staff is friendly and excited about the new chef. We are new to the Charlotte area from NY/NJ area and have been sampling uptown restaurants here. The Asbury is worth putting on the recurring events calendar. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

    Required a credit card to make the reservation (which is ridiculous to begin with) and then I got there and they said they’re not taking any more people.

    First time I went there it was awesome this go around was subpar. They didn’t even acknowledge my fiancé birthday when I put that in my reservation. Oh and my glass had lipstick on it. I really wanted to leave after that.

    Burger was overcooked, steak was raw, purée was so dry you needed a knife to cut it, glazed carrots were burnt and not glazed.

    They were out of several items including sausage and banana bread. I don't expect a profuse apology but at least say you're sorry Even if you don't mean it. The eggs were good but the portion of bacon was very meager. The service was indifferent and I had to get a server who wasn't assigned to our table to refill my tea. I've gone to 2 places for brunch within walking distance of my home downtown--Asbury and Tupelo Honey--and both have been disappointing.

    My wife and I truly enjoyed our time visit. The food was amazing, and the service even better. Great tasting mimosas along with an excellent meal. We will be coming back!

    Everything was pricy and the menus was very small, 6 entrees and they were out of one at 5:00 pm. They should shut down and complete a total redo. There is zero ambience especially if you’re seated near the entrance from the hotel. It cost $17 for a glass of the house Cabernet.

    I hadn’t been to The Asbury since the pandemic and wow has it changed for the worst. The dining area is very cheap and dirty looking. The waitstaff was really kind but forgot multiple things in our order and even gave something we didn’t order to a table next to us.. additionally the quality of the food has gone way down. We paid $30 for my husband to be plated 3oz of pork and garnish…They were also out of almost all the items on their already limited menu. I won’t go back again.

    The food wasn’t really worth the price. I paid $13 for a chicken sandwich with no side and it was dry and not that great. Also ordered Mac and cheese which I sent back because it tasted like it had been sitting out for a while.

    We got together on a Saturday for brunch, and the intimate atmosphere was so nice. After some Mimosas and Rosé we had a great meal. The highlight of the visit, however was our server Dena. She was so nice, so accommodating, and had the mostly lovely countenance. She made sure we had what we wanted and needed, and when we found some food items were unavailable, she already had a plan to adjust for it. She was so great, and just chatting with her was pleasant. Brunch experience was just what we needed, and was one I look to experience again.

    We were told when we arrived that there was only one person in the kitchen and even though we had an early reservation we would not be able to make our show and that we should leave. Which we did. The Asbury should have informed us

    We sat for 45 minutes. Never even got our wine or our drinks- or even a refill on our waters. They were out of all of their appetizers, salads, and a couple of entrees, not that it mattered because only one of the other four tables got their food. Pretty much everyone ended up leaving, including us. Not sure why they even opened.

    Good portions were minuscule. Food was old and dry. There had been a fire in the kitchen 3 weeks ago we were not told about. Will never go back.

    We've had great dinners here, but this was our first breakfast. I was really excited about the fried gouda potatoecake and it did not disappoint! Ample portions, too.

    They were out of most of the items on the menu. Then when we finally ordered, they brought the wrong food. We had already waited an hour. Needless to say, we didn’t stay. Maybe, was just an off day. Will try again as I’m told the food is amazing.

    Most of the menu was unavailable. There were no appetizers and no desserts available. Waitress ignored half the tables and people ended up walking out.

    I'm sad to give a poor review. We waited 45 minutes for our food. An 11am seating and they were out of toast, french fries, salad. Servers were not attentive. Food was mediocre at best. Embarrassed I took out of town guests here. I will not be back.

    A complete disaster; do not ever eat here! Chef quit, 2/3 of the menu not available, and no one, not a single person, thought to call me or notify me in the 6 weeks prior during which time I made, confirmed, and then re-confirmed my reservation for my 6 guests from LA, Seattle, and Indianapolis. Wound up getting in to the Capitol Grille - had a GREAT experience there, highly recommend. The Asbury sucks

    The experience at The Asbury was great!! Our server was great too & that warm banana walnut bread was the best!!! Now, our server did say there was a fire so they didn’t have alot that was on the menu, but im pretty sure thats not going to last for long. Other then that, i would definitely go back.

    The restaurant was closed! Apparently, there was a fire sometime around Christmas. I am so disappointed that there was NO call or email telling us the place was not serving. As a matter of fact, I received a confirmation request a couple of days before and an email as late as 5:35 on the 31st concerning our reservation at 7:30. Imagine the disappointment when you walk in and the bartender at the Dunhill breaks the news. Imagine trying to find a meal on New Year's Eve in downtown Charlotte. Not to mention that we missed that breakfast as well. Thankfully there was an opening for two at the Capital Grille which worked out. But why did management at the Asbury allow this lack of communication to occur? Why did Open Table not know? Dinner at the Asbury on the 31st has been our tradition for the past 11 years. We only went someplace else one time! I'm leaving the recommendation as a yes, hoping that management figures out what will happen in the coming year, because the meals have been so good. And figure out how to communicate with customers. You have my telephone number and email address, you could have used them. It would have been so cool to have a call/email explaining what had occurred and then a backup reservation at a neighboring restaurant that was recommended by the Asbury management. Oh well, opportunity lost. Looking forward to next year at the Dunhill and Asbury? Sincerely, Philip Herrin

    Food was absolutely horrendous, and I’m not even picky. Neither is my family and every single one of us was appalled at how horrible our food was. None of us ate more than a few bites of our meals and some of the food was actually unsafe to eat (two of six people also found hair in their meals, which probably tasted better than the food itself). The restaurant was also out of over half the items on the menu. As for service, our waitress was nice enough but unprofessional, making weird comments and forgetting everything, and seemed like she was on another planet. I’m new to the area so didn’t realize how bad this place is but everyone else must know because we were the only people the entire time there on a Friday night at prime time. Would only recommend this place to an ex taking out a new girl - their night will surely be ruined.

    This was one of the best dinners I’ve had in a long time. Great waitress and great food. Will definitely be back again.

    We took a chance based on the previous reviews and we were punished.  We should have stayed away. We waited 45 mins for Mahi Mahi with no sign of the food coming anytime soon. Other customers complained about wait times and food not being prepared properly. We waited 30 mins to learn the salad we ordered was not available. The excuse given was a banquet upstairs caused the delay. Until something changes dramatically, we can't (in good conscience) recommend this place for dinner. We left hungry. Walked to a nearby restaurant. Sat at their bar and were served within 10 mins of ordering.

    They are severely understaffed so I don't understand why they even accepted reservations. When we arrived for our reservation the diningroom was full, but we noticed no one was eating. After about 20 minutes, the table next to us left and told us to leave too as they had been there awhile and there was no food. I had ordered a starter when we sat down, and after 45 with no banana bread we left too and so did another table. If you only have one server and inadequate kitchen staff, don't fully seat your restaurant!

    The Asbury is my go to brunch spot before shows at the Belk theater, but service was really struggling this time. It took over 20 minutes to get our drink order taken and well over an hour to get food for a table of 2. I requested the hot honey for my chicken and waffles to be on the side since I was sharing with my daughter, but it came with the honey on top so she couldn’t eat it. I would have mentioned it to the server, who was very nice and apologized for the wait, but given the amount of time it took to get one chicken and waffles and some French fries, it didn’t seem likely that I’d be able to get a replacement before being late for our show. They did comp my drink, which was a nice gesture, but I think in the future I’d try elsewhere.

    We were the first ones seated as it was 11:30am. We didn’t get our food until 12:45. There was no explanation given. Many tables got up and walked out, the restaurant was full and we were the first ones to get our food, many people waited longer than us for their food. Apparently the kitchen was understaffed, I totally understand but a manager should have been coming around with an explanation and an expected time line. We put in an app when we ordered our drinks and the app came out after our meal….. yikes! We were very disappointed with the whole experience.

    One of the worst restaurant experiences we’ve ever had. That’s not hyperbole. Will never ever return. Do yourself a favor and don’t risk it going here. I’d recommend you pick any other place than this. Like other reviews, many things on the drink and food menus were out and that was blamed on a banquet they held a few days ago. Based on the other reviews, this is a pattern and a sign that they have poor planning and inventory management skills. What restaurant runs out of so much food all the time? I’ve been to plenty of hotel restaurants that serve much larger events than this place does, and this doesn’t happen. The cocktails were horrible tasting. Do not get the cocktails. No joke, worst we’ve ever had. The braised short rib had no sauce on it at all, so it was literally a dry hunk of meat sitting on a potato cake. Who does that? Asparagus was rubbery and poorly seasoned. The kale salad was horrendous and acidic tasting — very few pine nuts on it. The sticky bun starter was dry, not very warm and had barely any icing on it. Not a single holiday decoration to make it festive for the season. I mean, go pick out a $4.99 poinsettia from Lowe’s and put it in the corner at least. Really disappointing considering we had a great brunch experience earlier in the year.

    The food was brought to us intermittently. Our salads we sent out and the we waited another 40 minutes for our Mac and cheese and charcuterie board. The kale salad was very acidic. It was all I could taste. The $19 charcuterie board consisted of 5 blueberries, 6 pieces of cheese, 6 pieces of meat , jam and olives.

    Took our parents out for dinner before a show and gave ourselves plenty of time. We were handed a small menu and immediately told three items were no longer available (at 6pm). Made our selections and waiter had to come back to say an additional item was now unavailable. Wine list had a significant number of wines crossed out (unavailable) as well. Waited an hour for food that never came. Were told it would take at least another 15 min. Left unserved. Have eaten here in the past but won’t return until it’s under new management.

    We arrived at 11:30 a.m. (reservations were at 11:45 a.m.) and we were promptly greeted and seated. We ordered food but never received it. We were going to the theatre so I informed them at 1:00 p.m. that we had to leave. 1-1/2 hours and no food!!! Unacceptable. The server kept telling us that the one (1) cook was doing all he/she could. I suggested they only sit 3 (4-top) tables per hour since they couldn't handle our 4-person table. Not sure I will go back. I usually give 2nd and/or 3rd chances, but not this time.
