This small renowned restaurant in the heart of Ilkley was founded in 1962. It was the first 2 Michelin Starred restaurant outside of London and for over 60 years has continued to be at the forefront of northern Gastronomy.

The modern British menu and extensive wine cellar offer food lovers an unforgettable experience. The kitchens commitment to the best, freshest ingredients, with an emphasis on locally sourced, fresh ingredients from farmers and local suppliers.

The Box Tree represents a combination between 21st century efficiency and exquisite good taste. Whilst the kitchen boasts the latest equipment, the restaurant features a collection of art and antiques which define the style and luxury for which the Box Tree is famed.

Excellent meal drawing on classics from the last 65 years. Good to have been on the last night before the refurbishment - could be a very different experience when next there! Looking forward to seeing how it looks in the next phase

The food and staff all excellent. However, one concern I have is that there is no accessible toilet available on the ground floor. I appreciate it is an old building but this does prevent a number of people from dining there.

Top notch as always. This was the last service before a refurb. The menu was a collection of some of the all time box tree classics. Excellent. The one very minor down side was the main course. The beef fillet was tiny. Star of that particular show was the sweetbreads and foi gras.

Solid local restaurant with good classic dishes, well presented and cooked. Special menu with dishes from past 64 years, all of which showed good technique and touches of refinement. Standouts were a Parmesan custard with onion, and the lobster Thermidor. Short but effective wine list. Service was good; present but not overbearing. Slightly formal but it suited the general vibe. Will be interesting to see how the refurb changes the energy, which felt comfortable, almost homely. A restaurant I’d happily visit again.

We had the most fantastic experience at The Box Tree following our wedding day the day before our booking. We were warmly greeted and taken for a drink in the bar area, once ready we were escorted to our table and found a lovely card congratulating us on our big day. A thoughtful and generous touch. Throughout our experience the staff were phenomenal and attentive, keeping glasses filled, napkins folded and ambiance in order. The food. We have no words other than, incredible. The Box Tree was a beautiful experience and we would love to return!
