The Melting Pot - Reston
Saturday: 4:00pm - 11:00pm
Sunday: 4:00pm - 10:00pm
Entree takes way too long to cook. 4 people on 1 grill and it took 30 minutes for each round of steak or shrimp to be cooked. My son kept mixing up raw and cooked utensils. Why not sous vide the meat and let the customer do a final sear?
The Melting Pot is always a solid experience. The menu changes in just the right ways to keep things fresh while keeping the tried-and-true classics. Service is great, ambiance is private and good for conversation, and cooking your own food tableside is always a blast. Very good deal for ladies' night as well.
Birthday. We were told 2+ hours for the 4 course meal. We weren’t prepared for that. I would suggest just doing the cheese and chocolate. Skip the proteins and salad.
Our waiter Zach was great fun. Glad to have the Bananas Foster back on the menu!!!
I haven’t been to the melting pot in years since going vegan. When I found out they can provide a full 4 course vegan meal, I immediately rounded up some friends to check it out. We were not disappointed!! Everything was delicious, our server was knowledgeable, and we can’t wait to go back!
Food is great, the evening is fun, but it’s just too expensive for such small portions, so value takes a hit. It’s also louder than it needs to be for anonymous conversation, so overall just 4 out of 5 stars.
And be prepared to spend an easy 2+ hours on dinner and dessert. This is a long date so make sure you really like with whom you spend it!
We enjoyed the food, but the wait between courses was very long. Also, the restaurant was not very clean. There were left over food or liquid spatters on the booth that was right next to the fondue pot. The floors and certain other areas were noticeably neglected from cleaning.
First time time there Food was great and service was good We had a great time
Service was slow and it was not busy runny cheese sauce they had a new tabletop grill experience starting that did not work well
Some servers had food and stuff all over their clothes at 5:00. It was not appetizing to look at. For the $200 cost for hour people not worth is there are a lot better restaurants in this price point
It was my daughters and mine combined Birthday dinner. It was very nice, as always. Everything was sent to us well, and our waiter was good at explaining what he was doing while he did things. He made sure to get our special requests done quickly and correctly.
The menu seemed confusing.
My wife and I go out every Saturday for date night and have been doing so for 13 years. As you might assume, we have hit a lot of restaurants in the area.
We have been going to the Melting Pot in NOVA for 20+ years, dating back to when it was nearly impossible to find because it was hidden in an office park, in the back to boot. On our last visit, there seemed to be an issue with the hostess providing the server with out ticket. After 15 minutes of waiting for someone to come to our table, I went back to the front station and inquired. Apparently that was the issue, but no apologies, just sheepishly getting the issue corrected. The server seemed a bit agitated and I really did not connect with him during our two hour meal. With that being stated, I have felt that the Melting Pot in NOVA has gotten a bit more "unfriendly" and seems to portray an undertone that they have enough business, so your business is not necessarily a huge concern. I have had several small issues in the past at this location and would do not seem to have similar issues in the other higher end restaurants we patronize.
In the end, it's expensive cheese, proteins and veggies. You are cooking the food, so the service should be outstanding.
Service was great as we celebrated a new job for my son. It was DC restaurant week so the value for the complete dinner was excellent. We have always celebrated our birthdays at the Melting Pot and we were happy to return for another special occasion.
We visited during Restaurant Week and got the four course tasting menu. Fantastic for everyone and they were so good at letting you pick what you wanted. Sometimes restaurants steer you to less desirable options on their tasting menus or specials burn or here. Everyone felt like they could choose what they wanted with no problem.
Only concern would be that it was a bit too dark. We were in a part of the restaurant that didn't have any direct window lighting and the small light at the table was not sufficient to provide the lighting needed to read the menu and see well. We were able to use our cell phone flashlights but a little less ambiance and a little more light would be good.
The Melting Pot never disappoints, and our first visit to the Reston location was no different. I enjoyed the layout of the restaurant and the option to sit at smaller tables for 2 people. It was really nice for an intimate dinner for 2. We were there for Restaurant Week and the deals were great! We will definitely be back.
Always a great experience at the Reston location!
Some of the meats weren’t great(don’t waste your time on the chicken) but the overall experience was awesome. The whole group had a lot of fun. The dessert part was so good, I’d go back just for that. Our waitress was good but the whole evening took a long time so if you go be prepared to make a night of it.
Service was extremely slow. The bartender couldn’t keep up with drink orders. Our waitress was so very friendly and kind to us but she must’ve been given two other wait staff’s tables as that young lady was bookin all over the place. I actually had to raise my hand to get water refilled and more drinks.
We asked for more broth and the manager actually poured boiling water into the pot. Yes, the rest of our meal was very bland.
The front reception group of kids were so not interested in their jobs. They honestly didn’t know what to do when one of the kids left to go elsewhere.
Get yourself together, Reston. I paid $200 for a celebratory meal and my guest was soooo let down. He went without a drink refill for about 30 min. Then we had boiling water to cook our meat. I was apologetic to him but I also had no idea it would be like that. I was so embarrassed.
Alex was awesome with service! We had an awesome anniversary dinner! Thank you!!!
We had a very enjoyable time at the Melting Pot on Thursday, 8/16. Unfortunately, I do not remember our server's name, but she was FANTASTIC! She was very attentive to our needs, took the time to talk about our lives with us, and gave us a very sweet message on our plate during dessert which showed how much she listened and cared. Thank you for a fantastic evening!
Great place to spend time cooking and enjoying your food while visiting with family and friends. Relaxing atmosphere, great service, excellent food...
Eating there is an experience; always a pleasure. Zach was an outstanding, fun server.
Table and waiter was average. Food was yummy as always
Celebrated a special occasion here during the week. It’s like the Euro dining experience-savor & enjoy the experience. No rushing, good service, and great tastes!
The food was good but they should have a special family menu at a family rate.
Our server was helpful and friendly. We enjoyed ourselves
Fraser was the BEST waiter we have had at any restaurant ever, let alone a Melting Pot. I have an egg allergy and that makes it extremely difficult to eat out, especially if the waitstaff is unwilling to help. Fraser was absolutely amazing about explaining everything that I could have and couldn’t have in order to make the best decision about the food not only I would be eating but the food I would be exposed to through my husband cooking in our pot as well. I cannot say enough about how pleased I was with our waiter.
The restaurant seemed noisier and less private than most Melting Pots, but after reading several negative reviews on Yelp about how dark it was, maybe this was on purpose.
Went for my birthday! Service was excellent and the food was good. Be prepared for some sticker shock on pricing, but I thought it was worth it! It was one of the few places my kid said he would go back to and he hates going out to restaurants.
We went to the Melting Pot this past weekend for a special occasion--early on a Friday evening at 5:30. The food of course was as expected (how can you go wrong when you cook it yourself?). However, the wait staff could not seem to get the timing down and it felt like we were at a new, recently opened restaurant trying to train staff as opposed to an established restaurant. Our drinks were slightly delayed (no big deal), but then the fondue cheese course and salads were brought out within minutes of one another. Then there was a reasonable delay before the entree course. However, we finished the entree course and it was then over half an hour before we saw our waitress again (6:50-7:20)--I had actually gotten up and started looking for her at that point. The waitress appeared to have forgotten about us and you could tell from her facial expressions that she knew she had made a mistake. I would have expected at that point that the service would have picked up asap. However, instead, it was another 15 minutes before our dessert was brought out, and we had to flag down the manager (who by the way had walked by several times but was more preoccupied with a table across from us and seemed to be deliberately missing eye contact). Again, we waited for the check to be brought out--about another 10 minutes, etc. All told, a meal that normally takes two people about 2 hours took us over 3 hours due to the wait staff. The manager only offered coupons (no meal discount) to return (on a Monday-Thursday) and get a $10 off coupon, which was a pretty cheap compensation alternative and of course would require us to return in the next few months (which we do not plan to do). Although we historically have gone to this Melting Pot about once a month or so, I can assure you that we will not be returning. It was a pretty disappointing experience all the way around-both waitress and manager.
Had the staycation meal. Everything was delicious. Our waitress Veronica was exceptional. Very attentive & knowledgeable about the staycation menu.
Great place for a date or close group bonding. Lorenzo our server was fabulous. ask for him. We had the full four courses, but it was way too much food. Classic cheese fondue starter was almost a meal in itself. We had the seafood (shrimp, lobster, ahi and salmon) fondue with the Coq au vin cooking broth. Definitely going back again.
We went for a date night and it was fine for what it was, however the price for the portions just wasn't there for us. Plus the time commitment, three hours, had we known ahead of time we may have planned for a different day. While the restaurant was mostly empty, to have a full meal take that long was kind of unexpected. The server was very knowledgeable and was able to help us order as we were newbies to the overall experience. If we were to do this again, it would only be for dessert, and I don't think our kids would enjoy it especially with that time commitment so it goes into our "date night" book.
Always a good time to take the kids to the Melting Pot - they have a great time with fondue at all ages! Our youngest fell asleep towards the end of the dinner and we left her favorite dress up shoes. The manager called us the next day and let us know we had left them and held them for us until we could return! Wonderful service!
We have gone to the Melting Pot many times in the past.
Friends knew we liked it so they purchased us a $50 gift card as a gift. We wanted to use it and assumed that this would cover most of the meal. We bought the 3 course - salad, cheese dip and beef steak. 1 drink and 2 waters.
Service was great and we enjoyed the restaurant but the bill was outrageous. $110 for the above. Come on! By the time we paid the 20% tip it was over $130 for two of us with 1 drink...and a meal we cooked ourselves. You are just pricing yourself out of the market as we won't return. Ruth Chris steaks would have been cheaper and likely better overall. We liked the experience but you choose to charge way too much so we will not be back!
Extraordinary experience for a first date. Four course dinner was delicious and very satisfying. Ambiance was very nice but could have been better if we would have had a more private booth. The wait staff was superb and very attentive to our needs / requests. All in all a very positive experience that we will enjoy again in the very near future.
Always a great time. Went for Ladies night. The service was nice and the price was very reasonable!
It went really well! We just got dessert for my new job I accepted and it was great!
My wife had received a gift card from one of her students as an end of school year gift, so despite our last couple experiences being negative, we decided to celebrate our 19th anniversary at the Reston Melting Pot. We were quite delighted to experience absolutely wonderful service. Our server was timely and attentive. She did not leave us idle for long periods of time, which was perfect as we had 2 kids with us. This experience has redeemed the Reston Melting Pot for us and we look forward to another visit!
Food and our server was great however the three other servers were talking loudly and swearing at each other about how clean the empty tables were in our section causing my wife and I to feel uncomfortable. We love coming there for dinner but their conversation shouldn’t have been going on in front of guests.
Haven't been to MP for awhile, and was so excited. We were not disappointed. They have some new menu items, and now have a vegetarian selection, which is cool. Loved it as always!
