Located in the quiet hamlet of Olmstedville, NY, The Owl at Twilight brings approachable fine cuisine to the Adirondack Mountains of New York. The menu, while focusing mostly on Latin American Cuisine, is recognizable and blends many flavors and regions. Enjoy dinner in the comfortable dining room next to the fireplace or outside in our lovely screened in porch. The quaint bar is perfect too for an after dinner drink or some appetizers. The Owl has a great vibe in a converted old home, very unique. The menu is small but amazing quality, especially the fresh catch which is flown in each week. We always have a wonderful meal and great service

We were greeted and seated. Our cocktails arrived promptly. We ordered a variety of appetizers but the fresh mussels and bread basket were a hit. The baked feta was good but I would skip it next time. We were ready to order dinner and the special was Snapper. Three ordered the coconut seafood stew and one ordered the snapper in a medium red sauce. I was talked out of the seafood stew and into snapper ( which I love) and was offered a variety of preparations. I asked for the coconut sauce. Unfortunately the snapper was very thick and super tough and I only ate a few bites. The rice and vegetables in the dish were very tasty. I was super disappointed with my snapper but my husband enjoyed his snapper preparation. The season closes the end of September but we will definitely be back next year when they open after Memorial Day.

We're long-time fans of The Owl. The food is fresh, delicious and always pleasing. The staff is excellent. Dining on the screened-in porch is a special treat, and the interior dining room is charming. You can't go wrong. Excellent cocktails and wine list. We look forward to visiting every summer.

We were greeted by Mark the owner and were given the option to be seated on the porch. Mark shared that the seafood was all fresh and described the specials. Our waiter arrived and took our drink orders. We shared a Kale Caesar salad for an app & the table shared the bread basket. Two of us opted for the swordfish special which was outstanding and two of us opted for the coconut curry seafood stew which was also outstanding. The noise level on the porch rose a bit with the arrival of additional patrons but we were still able to chat. Our waiter was great, promptly brought our bill which we split. It was a wonderful experience with excellent food and service. We will return before they close for the season at the end of September!

Sadly, this place (where I have had wonderful experiences in past) fell short of expectations. While the available food was good, many of the menu choices were unavailable. We had a choice of fish or steak, no duck or pork. Our cauliflower app was quite spicy without warning. At desert our server offered 4 gelato flavors but only chocolate was available. Disappointing when the online menu and paper menu offer many options and you aren’t told they are not available until you order. Service was very slow and disorderly, though friendly. Even the best places have off nights … I hope this was one. On the up side, what food was available was delicious and the ambiance spectacular.

"Many of the choices were unavailable" was not the case. Of our 17 menu items ONLY 2 were not available. The diner must not realize that we had a busy weekend and no restaurant gets deliveries on Sundays. There are plenty of other great choices available. If food was 3, Ambiance 5 Value 3 and Service 1. Not sure how the diner came up with a 1 star review. Puzzling. We are proud of our countless great reviews,

We visit the Owl every time we are up here. The food is always excellent and the serving staff always friendly the Owl is always under staffed. Our server was a lovely hardworking girl but she was covering two tables inside and the entire porch area and she also served as the bus person. The cocktails are creative but low on the actual alcohol content.

Staffing is very difficult these days. NO restaurant is fully staffed. One must realize you do not get the heavy cocktails you make at home. This is a responsible restaurant that pours the amounts they should be pouring. You are always welcome to order a double.

The Owl has a charming back porch atmosphere and we have really loved it in the past. I am sure it is a challenge to run a high end restaurant in such a remote area. This summer it felt like a basic and limited menu with poor service. Salads, steak and fries were good. Osso bucco was served room temperature (not hot, not cold), wine service was late, bread basket small enough to feel awkward for the price.

We have been going to the owl over 20 years. It’s the best food you will ever eat in the Adirondacks and better than most restaurants in the state. It’s a special place with great people. Worth the drive.
