I had the fish and chips. While the fish and the fries were very good the hush puppies left a lot to be desired. Flavor was lacking.

After being away for a few years following the closing and renovations we have been very pleased with our dining experiences at the Village Anchor. The food has been consistent and many old favorites are back on the menu. We plan to be back soon!

Village Anchor is a winner for us. Our waitress, Maddie, was a joy and very attentive, as were all staff. We shared an appetizer, the best chili wontons we’ve had. I was fortunate to try a new menu addition, Elk Lasagna. It was delicious, light on sauce and cheese (perfect balance) with mild elk flavor. My husband enjoyed the Hotter Brown which featured pulled chicken rather than turkey, a mild cheese sauce (unlike many restaurants which smother with cheese) and amazing bacon strips. We shared a tasty Caesar salad which could have used more anchovies. Dessert went home with us—beignets stuffed with chocolate chip cookie dough—no need to comment further!

We enjoyed a really pleasant outdoor dining experience at his restaurant this past weekend. I told our server (Mike - who was most excellent!) that the shrimp and grits dish was the best I've had. My wife had the walleye special, which we both agreed was cooked perfectly and delicious. No room for desert, but the bourbon old fashioned was a great start along with a bowl of the elk chili. First time we dined there and will definitely be back to Anchorage for more. Highly recommended!

The food was mediocre and the banana pudding was like soup. It was gross!!! The four of us decided we were not coming back!!! Too many good restaurants to eat here again.

Excellent service by Lola! She was very personable and attentive to our needs as we had my two grandchildren - a three year old and a ten month old - along with the six adults. My wife and I are from out of town, but when we visit our son and daughter-in-law and grandchildren, we make a point to have a meal at Village Anchor. Excellent food and featured specials!
