The Punch Bowl is a 17th century newly refurbished restaurant and pub located in the heart of rural Essex and the Crouch Valley and South Essex salt marshes. Chef Patron Rob and Front of House Manager Sally run a Two AA Rosette-rated restaurant, offering a nose-to-tail style menu with unpretentious dishes that focus on flavour. Everything is made in house - from bread to mayonnaise, and we use local, seasonal and organic ingredients. Our menu changes daily as the season's best comes in. The menu will always feature day-boat fish, meat, offal, rare breed steaks and excellent vegetarian cookery. We offer two or three roasts on a Sunday and hold regular exciting food events which showcase classic cookery and intriguing ingredients.Our beautiful garden bar has a lawn and York-stone patio looking out across the farmland of Paglesham and the River Crouch. Throughout the summer we offer BBQ dining and live music to entertain while the sun shines.

    Busy and popular restaurant! Book way in advance ! 3rd time we have been and although they were running a little late it didn’t matter ! Meat platter was amazing ! We had a table for 3 , ordered the meat platter for 2 and then extra ribs and sides - we were all very full ! Fantastic food ! Can’t wait to visit again. Keep it up - got a great restaurant!

    This was the first time we visited the Punch Bowl. The welcome and service was very friendly. I often order steak when we eat out. On this occasion I ordered Fillet Steak. It was without doubt the best I have ever had. Cooked to perfection and melt in the mouth. It was so good that I had to tell the lady serving us. All round excellent experience

    We absolutely love the Korean Cowgirl at Riverside! The food is always incredible, the staff are so welcoming and friendly, and every visit is perfect from start to finish. It’s one of those places that never disappoints, which is why we keep coming back time after time. Highly recommended!
