The Black Bull Inn, Moffat is an independently owned, award winning Scottish hostelry, established 1568. The oldest hostelry in the area, the Inn is well known for its links to Robert Burns, Scotland’s National Poet who visited during his heyday. The Black Bull is also connected to another notable character from history – the controversial Earl (Bonnie) of Dundee, who commandeered the Black Bull as HQ in the 17th century and oversaw the persecution of Scottish Presbyterians from within its walls.     Tuesday afternoon, restaurant was quiet with a low number of staff around. Food choice was nice and suited our taste. Food and drink came in good time. Always a diverse choice of food at the chip and usually it was superb, nice sardines , great bread and butter and potatoes were fantastic

    Really enjoyed it. Scotland is lacking in pubs like this with a warm feel, great welcome and nice atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back.

    An excellent meal last night with good service. The staff were very friendly and helpful when I asked for a gluten free meal. They were able to get me a gluten free substitute, that was supplied with care and attention. Overall a good experience.
