A sherwal is a traditional, multi-layered baggy men’s trousers worn in various areas of the Mediterranean. Centuries old, it is a rare sight nowadays, except in remote villages and at traditional cultural ceremonies and, well, at our restaurant. Why name our restaurant after an archaic pants? Because, somehow, this pair of comfortable pants has found its way into our modern world, with little tweaks here and there taking the form of harem pants or baggy jeans, fusing the old with the new. And this is what we want to do. We want to take old culinary masterpieces from the Mediterranean and fuse them together, with new flavours here and there, adding new colours and new tastes to the table.

    From the moment we arrived the service was outstanding. I have not received such service in any restaurant from beginning to end. Every waiter that served us was 10/10 the owners have chosen well in their staffing choices. The food was absolutely delicious and the prices were amazing for the quality and choices we received.

    As theatre-goers for both the Wharf and Roslyn Packer theatres, this is our go-to dinner venue. Not a large menu but always interesting, with always fresh ingredients. Lovely selection of wine and cocktails, with an even more lovely view of the harbour. But on top of the plus list is the staff, who are always efficient, knowledgeable, helpful and generally delightful.
