Namaste Village, which brings authentic Indian flavours to the heart of Norwich, was inaugurated in 2016 after we shifted operations from Opie Street. Built inside a former church school, the restaurant has been revamped in a way that honours the history of the structure from the outside while capturing the spirit of our Indian traditions on the inside. We are one of the first high-end traditional Indian restaurants in Norwich that is purely vegetarian and has dedicated vegan options.

Recently refurbished, the welcoming décor pays tribute to Stratford’s most famous former resident, William Shakespeare as well as incorporating a nod to its owners, the historic Brewing House, Davenports which was established in 1829. You can expect great ales, whilst the attractive central bar is well-stocked with popular spirits and boasts a super cocktail menu which are freshly prepared to order. Choose to dine in the comfy snug or around one of the tables indoors, there’s also a wonderful garden terrace with heaters to the rear, and alfresco tables on warmer days to the front of the pub. The food menu never fails to impress, with a focus on quality, locally sourced ingredients.

    Delicious food, fantastic service and beautiful environment. Highly highly recommend this place. So much choice on the menu the hardest thing is deciding what to order.

    What a brilliant meal. Our plumber recommended The Elms, so we thought we’d give it a go for the wife’s birthday. I was taking a risk, but it absolutely paid off.The food was fantastic and the service was spot‑on — friendly, helpful and never intrusive. We didn’t realise it was Steak Night, and the waitress letting us know about the free bottle of wine was a lovely touch.The steaks were perfect: great char, juicy inside, and full of flavour. Great food, great value, great night.
