Our Downtown Carmel tasting room sits on Dolores Street between Ocean and 6th, steps from the beach and surrounded by the village's restaurants, hotels, and shops.Albatross Ridge grows Pinot Noir and Chardonnay on a steep ridge 1,250 feet above the Carmel coast, seven miles from the Pacific, farmed entirely by hand and entirely organically. Wine Enthusiast has called it one of the most dramatic vineyards in California. The wines are made in a leaner, more Burgundian style than the California norm: early picked, restrained oak, built for the table.The name comes from the ridge itself. In the 1930s, William Hawley Bowlus launched his Albatross sailplanes off these same slopes. Eight decades later his son and grandson planted a vineyard on them, and only afterward discovered the connection.
