Riccardo was born in Florence, Italy and grew up in Boston, MA. Marybeth, a Sioux Falls native, ventured to the east coast as a nanny and then nursing school in Somerville, MA. The two met, fell in love, and became engaged on Martha’s Vineyard island. Moving back to Sioux Falls in 1999 and working at several area restaurants, they opened R Wine Bar in 2018. As owners of R Wine Bar, Riccardo and Marybeth are passionate about one thing: people. They believe that people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. With a curated wine list, local craft beer on tap, and beautifully executed menu, Riccardo and Marybeth are thrilled to bring R Wine Bar & Kitchen to the East Bank of Downtown Sioux Falls along with their General Manager Jane Allen, Assistant Manager Bailey Bernal, Executive Chef Cesar Vivas, and Sous Chef Carlos Chanquin.

After taking over the the original owners in 2021 they have sought to elevate the experience even further by adding a full bar and focusing on quality handmade dishes and superb service. Tobias is also a world class bartender and mixologist who has placed nationally in numerous mixology competitions and personally curates our cocktail menus and spirits lists.
